| Achilles as a Worrier | ||||||
| When I read in a student paper that "Achilles was a famous Greek worrier," I couldn't help but imagine his conversation with Odysseus at the base of the Trojan Horse: "Oh, geez, Odysseus, you don't expect me to get in that thing, do you? What if it catches fire? It's wood, look at it! If it rains, it'll leak for sure. Or if it doesn't we're sure to run out of air. I'm sure my insurance won't cover it, anyway, and I dunno about being cooped up with all these guys...how long have they been away from home, anyhow? Don't you ever think these things out? What if it doesn't fit through the gate?" |
