Second Review: “Everybody has Faith in Something”
We all need some sort of ontological base for progress, however we might define that term: for Galileo, “the
book of Nature is written in mathematical language.” For the philosophers
of
Whatever you might think of Kierkegaard, his Either/Or does put the relationship between faith in ethics, reason and faith in God in a challenging light.
1. In the context of his
examination of the story
of Abraham and Isaac, write upon what Kierkegaard means by
· The “Absolute relationship to the Absolute”
· The “Teleological suspension of the ethical”
· “For Abraham, to sin would be to remain in the ethical”
2: On an archaeological dig, you discover a scroll that contains what looks like a dialogue or interior monologue from either Abraham, Sarah, or both. Translate this dramatic fragment; then append your commentary.
