Vision Quest Performers Die

Two people celebrating the first day of summer on Friday are dead. El Dorado County sheriff's deputies say 35 people were on private property near the Five Corners area of the El Dorado National Forest. They were performing what they call a vision quest. Four people using a makeshift sweat lodge became nauseous and dizzy, and two of them died. The exact causes of death haven't been determined. Friday, June 21st was the Summer Solstice, the day of the year that the sun shines longest, and it's widely celebrated around the world.
