thanksgiving will be here in a few days. this year i'll be spending it with family instead of drunken double fisting friends. as much as i can recall i don't remember much about last thanksgiving, just that smuc (saint mary's) gave us bottles of wine and kept it coming all night. it sounded like a good idea up front but it should have come with the surgeon general's warning. this thanksgiving i will once again participate in thanksgiving bowl, the annual american football game my friends and i play on thanksgiving day. if i'm not mistaken this will be the third annual thanksgiving bowl and the first one we've ever played in snow. soon after thanksgiving comes that holiday limbo that leads up to christmas. thanksgiving, finals, winter break, christmas, new years... it's sort of an undescribable feeling. i really hope i don't get that email this year that says "splat... you've been hit by the first snowball of the year!" i think the last time i got one of those i took a piss at it, made out a picture of a bag of poo on fire, and sent it to whomever i received the original email from... "you just got hit with a flaming bag of dog poo..." the giving just doesn't stop coming.

i am a musical whore
once a friend of mine said i was a musical whore. yesterday i realised that was true.
music i listened to yesterday: planxty, jimi hendrix, rage against the machine, slipknot, system of a down, gattaca soundtrack, braveheart soundtrack, fight club soundtrack, deftones, godspeed you black emperor, super furry animals, death cab for cutie, and coldplay. the scary thing is that i listened to those albums all the way through... i've got a lot of time on my hands.
andreas partied like a rock star
andreas hung out and drank with gaelic storm two days last week, lucky bastard. it always amazes me how great things seem to happen to andreas. he is truely blessed. about a year ago andreas told me about his idea for a new band, sort of a take on a system of a down, called 'a syndrom of a down'. i thought it was halarious at the time, still do. maybe you had to be there to hear his sample demo.

meeting in the aisle
i met up with my old roommates jackie and gabrielle from my sophomore year yesterday. i got the tour of their new place, did some catching up, and then we hit up the bars in mankato along with nels and dan... (was i the fifth wheel much?) when we first met up that night i told them i was just going to have a couple of drinks and then leave at around midnight so that i could go back to my apartment in saint peter and finish up a paper that was due today. well i ended up having a drink from each bar we went to, which was four, and then one more on top of that. why is it that 'just a couple drinks' always turns into a handful of drinks or more? i ended up leave at a quarter to two, had a very questionable drive home, and then went to bed with the idea of just sleeping a couple of hours. i set my alarm for 3:30, woke up when it went off and reset it for 6:00, woke up when it went off and reset it for 10:00, and then again for 11:00. well i had already missed my class but i remembered reading that today was the due date but there wasn't a specified time so now i thought i'd just had it to him or slip it under his door before the end of the day. the paper itself was left at five pages long the night before and i needed a total of ten pages. well that sounds like me huh? always putting things off till the last minute. well somehow i managed to pull that extra five pages out of my arse this afternoon, whew (but not literally of course)! but by the time i got to campus the computer lab was closed and i couldn't print it off. who closes a computer lab at 6pm? granted it is a friday, but some people like to work until say nine or ten-ish until they go out for the evening... tossers... so to make a long story short (too late) i ended up emailing my prof with the paper attached. i will also give him the hard copy of it first thing monday. with any luck he'll take it and i won't fail the class. on a side note i briefly ran into jenny and krista at the hayes. on another side note steve pease and i talked on the phone after both of us a wee bit to drink. with ya tu re yah, fa re diddle dai re ya, fa ri dai ri diddle dai re ya.

i've decided to be the founder of a new club named the anti-social society. if you are interested we meet at two pm on mondays in armstrong room 04. meetings are fifty minutes long and consist of sitting in a circle, looking around, and feeling ackward. please bring crickets.

after recent talks with my dad, who i don't talk to much, he reveiled his plan to move to perth, austrailia. employment is pretty much set he's just got to fill out the proper paper work and such. his employment involves a high position in his brother's company. i told him to go for it. i'm expected to visit him at some point after he moves which i have no problem with. i hope things work out for him.
sport
everton continues to fall in the premier league points standings which is very disappointing. this is due to injuries and a failure to produce goals which seem to be an important factor when trying to win. however on the other side of the city liverpool fc is doing pretty decent, maybe its all that beer.
speaking of disappointments how about those vikings... ugh. there is something called defense and we don't have it.
an's not here, an's gone
mentally that may be true. this weekend i was quick to pick up how much people can annoy me, at home, at work, i just wanted to tell them to shut the fuck up and leave me alone. maybe living alone is taking its toll.
a long drive for no one with nothing to think about
after a fellow team lead quit at work i was able to pick up some extra shifts for the coming weeks which means i will be able to pay my rent this month, i suppose thats a good thing. that provides some relief, now if i can just pound out a ten page paper by friday morning i'll be set. however additional shifts mean weekdays shifts which mean driving an hour to get to work. i should still come out on top financially with the gas money and all.
eejit
i have finally picked up and started reading 'round ireland with a fridge' (a non-fiction adventure by tony hawks). it has been sitting my apartment for sometime collecting dust up till about a week ago. in the book i came across the word 'eejit' several times which i have never heard before until this point. by it's use i assumed it to be silly or stupid or both. i was unable to find it in my 1981 addition of webster's college dictionary however after a little bit of web searching i finally found it.
eejit - n, noun, excessively foolish fellow, stereotypical irish insult. plain "idiot" according to the oxford english dictionary... [from bbc's e-cyclopedia or from 'give my head peace']

after having arrived in the wee hours of the morning on monday to my apartment in saint peter (at a quarter past two or so) i set my alarm for nine am so i could attend my ten and eleven o'clock classes that morning. when i awoke to the alarm i didn't hit snooze but turn the alarm off saying "bollocks to that" and went back to sleep. i then woke up at half past two and then followed up my lengthy sleep by doing pretty much nothing for the rest of the day. luckly i broke that streak today in two ways, i attended my classes today and i suppose i'm doing something now (something defined by leaving the flat, if you will, and doing anything).
