TRANSLATION IN DUTCH COMING SOON ! | ||||||||
How can you improve your skills (= reading, writing, listening & speaking) and knowledge (= grammar, vocabulary etc.) ? IN GENERAL : _ Most English teachers have English book(let)s. Ask your teacher whether you can read one. This is a good idea if you're not good at writing and / or vocabulary. You will learn a lot of new words and expressions, simply by reading a story. _ Watch programmes on BBC, MTV, CNN etc. Do you have Teletext ? Excellent ! Then you can get subtitles for the most important programmes. Just open the Teletext menu and look for "Subtitles". _ Get in touch with a penpal (= somebody you can write a letter to). Of course we're not talking about a Chinese penpal (duh !), but for instance a Welshman, an Australian, an American, etc. You can find websites by feeding the word "penpal" or "pen pal" to a searchengine like google or dogpile. _ Visit Britain. In a few months Ryanair will have daily flights from Ostend to London. And they will be very cheap. FOR THE THIRD FORM : _ If you have problems pronouncing words (= if you don't know how to read them out loud), you can buy a the pronunciation booklet that belongs to "New Headwy Pre-Intermediate". _ If you want to do extra exercises in an interactive way (with some help and feedback), you can buy the "New Headway Pre-Intermediate CD-Rom". Tell your teacher first. Maybe we can get a better price than you. (English teachers are very popular :-) The only shop that sells these items in Ghent is Audivox. You can find it in Sint-Pietersnieuwstraat. Unfortunately, these items are not available for "New Headway Intermediate" (used by fourth formers). _ Solve the extra exercises in the "Revision" section at the back of your Workbook when you prepare a test. _ Ask your teacher for additional exercises. _ If Mr Audenaert is your teacher, you can send him one e-mail a week in English. Your e-mail will be corrected and your mistakes will be explained. FOR THE FOURTH FORM _ Ask your teacher for additional exercises. _ If Mr Audenaert is your teacher, you can send him one e-mail a week in English. Your e-mail will be corrected and your mistakes will be explained. FOR THE FIFTH FORM _ Aks your teacher for additional exercises FOR THE SIXTH FORM _ Ask your teacher for additional exercises |
