The Daily life of an English Spot

English Spot vs. French Lop
We own two rabbits, our English Spot, Lance, and our French lop. Watching the two of them, I've noticed several differences: Lance is more active and gets excited when you come to the cage. Our French Lop is more mello, she loves attention, but is more likely to eat grass when given freedom than run around and explore. Lance is far more inquisitive. Lance learns faster. It took him very little time to learn to stay off the carpeting, where as she still wanders on it frequently. The French Lop is a petting addict, where as Lance would rather run around. Both have great personalities, and make wonderful pets. Their differences make them all the better.

Daily Routine | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Morning: We give Lance fresh water and 1/4C of Purina Show Formula ® Rabbit food. Afternoon: Lance gets to play in either the kitchen, or on the deck for about a half hour to an hour a day. He especially likes playing with our Yorkshire Terrier, Maddie, they chase each other back and forth. He's also tolerated by our thirteen-year-old Golden Retriever, Lady, and our cat, Socks. Evening: Lance gets fed again 1/4C of Purina Show Formula ® Rabbit food. He also gets a treat (a pinch of old fashioned oatmeal) and unlimited hay. Last but not least he gets a kiss on the nose and a pat on the head, then he's off to sleep. |

Observations | ![]() |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Home | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
When Lance is really happy, he runs full speed and leaps high into the air, shaking (as if wet) in mid-air! The first time he did this I thought he had gone mad! Lance learns boundaries very well. If he's mad, he'll purposely break rules. If I'm sitting on the floor, Lance will come, sit on my lap, and lick me. If he's on my lap, and wants down, but is too afraid to jump, he'll sit up, and nudge me right in the face. If something scares him he'll run and hide behind me. He's very patient with little kids (don't expect this). He gets upset at the sight of his cage. He's notorious for untying, and eating shoe laces. |
