Have ever set a goal for yourself
A goal that would bring to your mind great wealth?
Have you ever wondered what it’s like to achieve
Have you ever wished one would believe?
Have you tried so many times that you thought to give up?
Have you tasted from a failures cup?
Have you been so frustrated by a lack of success
That you threw up your hands and went on to the next quest
Have you sat in the dark and wished for the end
Have you longed for victory to be your best friend?
Have you wondered how others can get there with ease?
Bur for you, it’s more challenging, like some sort of disease
Have you woken up in the morning and just wished for change
In your luck of the draw, your life would rearrange
Do you know what luck is, have you ever defined it
Let me explain it to you as my mind has been taught it
Luck is being prepared when opportunity knocks
Luck is knowing opportunity is always is stock
If opportunity is everywhere to be found
Than being prepared is your only high ground
So what does it mean to be prepared?
It means thinking ahead, going on when you’re scared
How do know when to change a lane
When you look ahead and see river of rain
Common sense, and using your mind
Thinking about what it is you might find
Setting your goal, focusing on “the win”
For even in failure, your luck takes a spin
If you never try then you’ll never fail
If you never fail, then you’ll never sail
If you think those around you have gotten there with ease
Just ask them, I am sure they’ll appease
How many times did you fall as a baby
Before you could walk, thirty times maybe
That is the example God gives for your quest
To teach you you’ll have many more challenges and tests
How many times did frustration set in
But you fell and got back up and fell again
Then finally one day you were walking much better
And your parents were calling you the “go getter”
If you see that your failures are there to make you win
Then you will keep trying and trying again
And if you have fallen more then the rest
Then you may be running with the worlds best
Don’t quit
This poem is dedicated to my son who learned how to ride his bike on July 22nd 2002 after falling so many times that he thought he would never do it
But, eventually he learned and taught me a wonderful lesson for life and it’s challenges!!!!
