A Christmas Angel

I see your smile, like joy only Christmas can bring
It’s memory reaches my inner being

I hear you, your voice soft and comforting
“Come and I’ll share my family”
and sadness would have no sting

Angels exist, I know this is true
I recognized the angel in you

So many in the world, live their life with no thought
If a co-worker is or isn’t distraught

Few take the time to ask, few take the time to care
You took your time to make a difference,
You are rare.

Love is the greatest of these, said our God
You exemplified love on the day of his birth
Giving myself, and my son a holidays worth

If one asked me today, If I believed in angels
I would say I know the name
and had met personally a fine one
They would doubt of course, and I’d define one

I’d call him by name and speak of his deeds
I’d say that not many are as splendid as he

I’d say he made my son smile
At a time when that task seemed grand
I’d speak of how easily he became a great friend

Then I’d share his name with millions, in a Christmas tale
This angels name is Morgan and I know him very well.

You see, he came into my life when my grief was loneliness
He gave to me a memory of family, and fulfilled a wish

He shared with me his own and treated me like his
He brought chocolate for my son in hopes he’d get that gift

He drifted to sleep early that night and I didn’t get the chance
To express my gratitude for his kindness, I should have in advance

I did tell him what it meant to me on a later day
He said it was his pleasure to have us come their way

Humble in his heart and generous in his deeds
I am told I am not the only one
He helped many with their needs

Morgan is still here just in a difference sense
He is looking from above just past a golden fence.

And, forever I will remember what it is he taught
The meaning of Christmas.
Giving doesn’t have to be bought.

Thank you Morgan
I miss you, But I know you are watching.
