It's nice when a day holds laughter and play
If only those times would always stay
However, if they did, would we appreciate like we should?
I don't think so, in fact I know we would not
So, shouldn't we be greatful for a days rott?
If we knew nothing but fun filled times
Would there a reason to form such rhymes?
If all our days were sunny and rain did not exist
We would hold our hands high with the tighest of fists
And if you are one who only loves rain
You would pray to your God to see the sun once again
If you never know hunger, how can you love to eat
Equal to one who has lived on the street
If you know what it's like to thirst for one drop
When handed a cup, you've been given alot
If you've walked to every destination on feet made of hope
When given a bike, you'd no longer mope
If given a car, then you'd feel like a king
Though simple in style, time it would bring
If that last line is confusing to you, then a challenge is here
What if you walked everwhere?
If you've earned some money that seemed not enough
How did you spend it? This is not tough
If you've had your heart broken a time or two
Would you appreciate others the way you do?
Or maybe you've allowed your broken heart to win
Causing yourself pain, time and time again
If we lived in a world with no green
If the sky were not blue
Then God brought colour back for me and you
Would we notice every tree and not care of cutt grass?
Just be happy to see the green alas
Would we notice the sunset as a painting from Him?
Would we be thankful for its rising, and go out on a limb?
If you lost your sight, would you remember your surroundings?
If you lost the ability to hear, would you remember a trumpet sounding?
If you lost your right hand, you'd teach your left
Ah... though you miss the right and re-live it's theft
If someone you love has passed on to the heavens
Would you be thankful for time you've been given?
How long would you obsess for their return
Do think of what they taught, and what it is that you learned?
If you do, then they are with you in your days
living on inside you in so many ways
We take for granted so many things
We pout, when in reality, we live like kings
I know this lengthy, I could not find a satisfying end
So much to consider on this topic, so much to comprehend
Be thankful for your job, your car, your best friend
Notice the sunset, love the rain,
In your good times, be thankful for your pain
When you pick up your glass, smile...
You have something to drink and hand to hold it in style
When you enjoy a meal with your child
Remember your cares are quite mild
Look around you, listen and smell
Take in the treasures, life hands you so well
