Bylaws: Enid Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender Pride Association


Article I

Name

1. The name of this organization shall be: Enid Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender Pride Association.


Article II

Authority

1. This shall be the guiding document for the organization. For parliamentary procedure purposes the organization shall use Robert's Rules of Order.


Article III

Purpose and Scope

1. Enid Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender Pride Association's purpose shall be to meet year-round to develop, coordinate, promote, and organize the annual Pride events for our community. It is our goal to create the means by which gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender persons can commemorate our diverse heritage, inspire the achievement of equality, challenge discrimination, educate our community, and celebrate.

2. Additionally, the Enid Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender Pride Association believes that as a civil rights movement, gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender people need an annual forum where individually and collectively we can consider where we have been, where we are now, and what direction we need to set and the annual Pride events shall also serve this purpose.


Article IV

Government

1. The government of this organization shall be entrusted to the members, who shall elect a President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer.

2. The membership shall hold regular monthly meetings. Special meetings may be called by the President, or 25 percent of the members.

3. The membership may delegate duties to whatever committees or individuals it designates; except that such committees and individuals must serve under the authority of and at the pleasure of the membership. The membership may if it wishes appoint an Executive Committee to carry out the day to day business of the organization.

4. A quorum shall consist of one-third of the organization membership. However, if 10 days written notice of the agenda is given to membership, then agenda items may be acted upon at a meeting with ten percent of the membership in attendance. No other business shall be acted upon unless one-third of the membership is present.

5. All organization members in good standing shall have the right to one vote at the election meeting. No officer of the organization may serve more than four consecutive terms in the same position. The membership may establish a nominating committee to present nominees at the election meetings. All officers shall serve two year terms. All officers shall be elected in April.


Article V

Members

1. Any member of the public is eligible for membership.

2. The organization may establish membership fees and dues.


Article VI

Amendments

Proposed amendments to these bylaws shall be made by a majority of chapter members voting.
