Religion in Lebanon

Probably that one thing that impacts Lebanese life the most is religion.  Religion has shaped Lebanon's history and defined its culture.  The unique part is that Lebanon does not claim one prominent religion; rather, it is home to many diverse religions.

Since its earliest days, Lebanon has been a diverse land and has been the host of all three of the world's major religions: Christianity, Islam, and at one point, a small population of Judaism.

Religion plays a large role in modern-day Lebanon's political life.  The President is a Maronite Catholic, the Prime Minister a Sunni Muslim and the Speaker of Parliament a Shiite Muslim.  To learn more about Lebanon's many rich and historic faith's, please visit the sites below

This is by far not a comprehensive list of religions in Lebanon, simply a majority overview.  This website does not endorse any one religion over another, but rather, believes that Lebanon maintains its unique identity by the coexistence of the diverse faiths within its borders.
