Ode To A Football
Widow
By - Enoon
Erehwon
O football widow, o vaunted spouse!
Now is the time to keen
The sounds of fall roll through your house
And your mate is no longer seen
The pigskin doth sever'd your ties
And the linebacker hath sacked your days
As the air quivers with the great hues and cries
As the floor is covered in bits of Lays
The leaves are shed by trees in droves of brown
The pews know the widow's groan
Your lover's leart is tied to the fourth down
The fumbl'd pass is cause for bitter moan
O football widow, O loyal wife
Once the games play out, so ends your strife
