| Se7en Morgan Freeman and Brad Pitt play two homicide detectives on the trail of a seriel killer whose murders are based on the seven deadly sins. David Fincher's dark thriller is one of the best in its genre. The story is intelligent, there are some great characters and fantastic performances which make this a must see. The picture here is 2.35:1 anamorphic and looks superb, there are no major problems with it whatsoever. The audio includes Dolby 6.1 EX and DTS tracks amongst others and sounds amazing, every speaker is used perfectly. This is one movie that definately sounds as good as it looks. As far as extras go this package is overflowing with them. On disc one we have a total of four commentaries, with each one focused on a certain aspect of the film; "The Cast", "The Story", "The Picture" and "The Sound". Disc two holds deleted and extended scenes and alternate openings and endings with optional commentary, a production design gallery with commentary, various still galleries with commentary, a feature on John Doe's notebooks, a featurette following the making of the DVD, a trailer, an original EPK and finally cast and crew filmographies. While this may not sound like a lot it actually runs for almost three hours and with the commentaries from disc one it all amounts to a very suprising amount of extras. Overall this is a fantastic movie on an even better disc, definately worth having in your collection. Picture- 10/10 Sound- 10/10 Extras- 9/10 Overall- 9/10 |
