Angel Season 1 (18)
Here it is, the Buffy spin off. Not many other spin off's have been successful apart from Frasier but Angel has proved that it can be done, and it does it really well. The show is a lot darker than Buffy and as you can tell by the rating is more violent. Season 1 sets up what the who is all about and includes some great episodes such as "City Of", "In The Dark", "I Will Remmember You", "Hero", "Somnambulist", "The Prodigal", "Five By Five/Sanctuary" and "To Shanshu In LA".
The picture is presented with a full frame 4:3 transfer and is very good with no grain. The sound is DD 2.0 and is as good as the Buffy releases.
The extras include 2 commentaries, 2 scripts, 4 featurettes titled "Season 1, I'm Cordelia, Introducing Angel and The Demons", a season one of Angel video trailer, cast biographies and an art gallery. This isn't too bad but it isn't at the same level as the Buffy releases.
Overall season one of Angel is fantastic and a great start to the show. The DVD may not be amazing but it's certainly above average. If you think Angel looks good then you won't be dissappointed.
