Angel Season DVD (15)
Some criticise season 2 because of Angel's descent into darkness and distancing from the group, he may not quite be Angelus but he isn't his usual self. The season is full of suprises and character development. We get to know more about Wolfram and Hart and we see some familiar faces from Buffy. Overall this has got to be better than season 1 and dare I say it, is better than most seasons of Buffy in my opinion. Season highlights include "Are You Now Or Have You Ever Been", "Dear Boy", "Darla", "The Trial", "Reunion", "Redefinition", "Reprise", "Epiphany", "Disharmony" and what I would call an epic four parter "Belonging/Over The Rainbow/Through The Looking Glass and There's No Place Like Plrtz Glrb" finishes off a great season.
The picture is the best yet for a Buffy/Angel release, it's widescreen 1.78:1 framing and is as clear as it could get, colours look rich and there is no grain, scenes set in darkness are still sharp and the black tones are excellent. The sound is DD 2.0 as always and is what you've come to expect, crisp and clear.
The extras are again slightly lacking. They include 2 commentaries, 2 scripts, 4 featurettes titled "Making Up The Monsters, Inside The Agency, Sunts and Season 2 Overview", stills gallery, set blueprints, cast biographies and a season one DVD trailer.
A fantastic season lacking meaty extras, the picture quality more than makes up for this though and still makes this a must buy for any Angel/Buffy fan.
