Buffy Season 6 DVD
It has to be said that season 6 is a lot darker than previous seasons and may be slightly more depressing but there are some great episodes in the mix here, including After Life, Normal Again and pretty much the last quarter of the season leading up to the shocking finale. This season also includes the wonderful musical episode Once More With Feeling which is one of Joss Whedon's best.
As with the previous set the picture quality is very good. It is presented in 16:9 anamorphic and only suffers from minor grain. The sound is once more DD 2.0 and is as always crisp and clear.
The extras are made up of 6 commentaries, karaoke sing-alongs, a behind the scenes documentary for Once More With Feeling, an academy of television arts and sciences panel discussion, Buffy and Angel trailers, a Buffy Goes To Work featurette, a season 6 overview, a featurette entitled Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Television With A Bite, an outtakes reel and 2 easter eggs.
The commentaries usually involve two people and are interesting to listen to. The behind the scenes look at Once More With Feeling is fun to watch and lasts around half an hour. The panel discussion includes interviews with the actors and creators of the show and lasts around 45 minutes. The Buffy Goes To Work featurette is brief but entertaining, the cast and crew talk about their previous jobs and their dream ones. The season 6 overview is similar to previous season overviews and includes interviews with cast and crew about the season and this lasts more than half an hour. The Television With A Bite feature is a look at Buffy in general and chronicles the creation of the show and looks at each season in detail, this lasts around 45 minutes and is very cool. Some features actually include interviews with Sarah Michelle Gellar which is a first for the Buffy DVDs, making this a very special set indeed.
Overall this is a good season on a superb DVD set, great picture, good sound and some amazing extras, any self respecting Buffy fan will love this!
