| Identity Ten strangers find themselves trapped in a creepy motel during a savage rainstorm out in the middle of nowhere, soon they are being killed off one by one, suprisingly the by-the-numbers opening is the strongest aspect of the film. The confusion and desperation conveyed in the first half of the movie creates tension and excitement which is sadly lost during the second half. The beginning is very promising and sets up what could have been a brilliant horror/mystery but unfortunately the ending is a complete cop-out, an obvious and dull so-called "twist" is forced upon us with a silly Carrie-style ending common in modern horror flicks. There are some interesting phsycological themes presented during the movie but it's a shame they aren't fully explored and that in the end nothing is really resolved. On the other hand the acting is very good for a movie of this calibur and the direction is energetic and fresh, there's a feeling of claustraphobia present throughout, emphasized by the constant rainfall. If you're interested in this genre then you should give this a go, it's trashy fun but ultimately disappointing. Rating- 6/10 |
