Red Dragon
Very disappointing. While this may be better than Hannibal
(Maybe not) this doesn't even come close to the likes of
Silence of the Lambs. I haven't seen Manhunter though, so
I can't compare the two, but I'm sure the original is better.
This movie is cliched, the direction is simple, the acting is average on a whole, despite the great cast and most of the characters are dull and undeveloped. The scares come at all the obvious moments, not much will suprise you here. The director tries to make you jump with loud noises coming from the score, not from the action on screen, which is just lame. There are deperate attempts at suspense but none actually create tension or excitement or lead to any good scares, unlike the brilliantly crafted Silence of the Lambs. Ok, on it's own, this movie isn't too bad, it's certainly above average, but it's not the movie that fans of SOTL were looking for. If you want to see a good thriller then this is your film, if you want to see a good Hannibal Lecter movie then go see SOTL again.
