Resident Evil
Set before any of the games the movie
starts off in an underground lab run by
the umbrella corporation, deep beneath
the streets of Racoon city, where illegal
virus testing is taking place in sectret.
What happens now? You've guessed it,
the virus leaks out and turns everyone
who works there into a flesh eating zombie. Who's going to stop the madness? Milla Jovovich, who plays Alice, who wakes up at the beginning of the film with no memory of who she is, but don't worry, it's only a matter of minutes before she picks up a weapon and starts kicking zombie ass.
There are some great ideas in this film but unfortunately they have been poorly executed. The plot is predictable, the special effects are nothing too special and the dialogue is extremely dull. You won't care who lives or dies since the characters lack any real depth and they are also extremely dull. On the up side there is tons of action, gore, some genuine shocks and to top it all off, zombie dogs, which are very cool.
Looking back at everything that's wrong with the movie and everything that's right with it, it's all balanced out, making for a very average flick, hopefully the sequal will be a slight improvement. If you really like the game you might be dissapointed with this, but if you're looking for a pointless, stupid gory zombie fest then you might as well give this a go.
