The Colonel!
Chickens Throughout History
Back
Chickens have been some of the most important historical figures to ever live, since their discovery(1795), Chickens have helped the world through times of hardship and toil and also been marveled at by all mankind during the prosperous times which have followed.

As most of us will already know a Chicken stared in the world's first joke (1832). However this joke has been overused because of its popularity and no longer has any influence on today's society. Nevertheless a Chicken joke it is so by right it must appear on this very site:
Q: Why did the Chicken cross the road?
A: To get to the other side! (Cue laughter)

Indeed it is true that Lord Nelson and all the crews from the British fleet did eat a dinner of roast Chicken the night before the battle started on 21st October 1805. Despite Nelson's tragic death the British fleet did smash the French scoundrels back across the channel and into the piece of dirt known as France. It has been shown by scientists that the dinner of Chicken is what gave the edge to the British in this battle, whereas the French meal of Frogs left them in their usual weakened and poof like state.

Although this is not a direct Chicken achievment, I think this momentous time in History cannot pass without a mention. It is, of course the great use of Chicken by that much loved man: Colonel Harland Sanders, the father of KFC, the best thing to come out of the USA since....well, ever! KFC is possibly the most enjoyed Chicken related product ever, and its all down to that one great man! The Colonel. He may have passed from us, but his legacy lives on today!

Chickens are also known to have great scientific minds. There is evidence for the Chicken being behind such invensions as: The Television, Radio, Mobile Phone, Inkjet Printer and also the Saturn V Rocket. Can any other animal claim such high achievments in a career that has lasted just over 200 years? I don't think so!
