Ensemble Of Folk Dances And Songs "SKOPJE"

The activities of the Ensemble “Skopje” canalize into a wide popularization of the historically proved, world-wide and infinity fertile creator's spirit of the Macedonian popular author, and into an animation of the young people in the process of keeping and cherishing the already settled out folk treasure.

The Ensemble achieves notable success in spite of the fact that it is one of the youngest folk ensembles in Macedonia. The Ensemble's presence on the most important folk manifestations all around the R. Macedonia clearly demonstrates its status as one of theEnsembles with highest quality in its own category.

The most important for the Ensemble "SKOPJE" is to catch the attention of the audience during its international activities in the foreign countries, thus to increase the curiosity of those countries' audience for the Macedonian folk culture.The Ensemble has realized tours and participated in festivals in Italy, Spain, France, Romania, Hungary, Bulgaria, Austria, Ukraine, Poland, Turkey, Yugoslavia, North Cyprus and other countries with the different groups, during the years of Ensemble's existence.

This cultural exchange has not only allowed the host countries to get a closer look at us the Macedonian people representing our traditional folk, but also has allowed our group members to extend their friendships to many different countries.

The Ensemble "SKOPJE" has about 200 dancers and musicians, working in three different groups depending on the age. The Ensemble continuously enriches its own concert program, along the years, with new choreographies with origins from different geographical parts of Macedonia. The current number amounts thirteen completely different choreographies.
Ensemble "SKOPJE" cherish the rich Macedonian folk tradition.

The performances of the Ensemble on the different festivals, has so far amused several hundred thousands of people all over the European countries, with the impressive coloring of Macedonian folk traditional clothing worn by the dancers, the attractive melodic Macedonian music and the stirring folk steps of the Macedonian folk dance.
