| The story of Rock Lee is perhaps one of the most uplifting stories of triumph over adversity every to be told in Konoha. Born a ninja completely lacking the ability to use Ninjutsu or Genjutsu, Rock Lee nearly didn't make it out of the Ninja Academy. He is possessed of such a strong sense of determination and great work ethic, however, that he passed based purely on his Taijutsu (hand-to-hand) skills alone. He has been called a "genius of efforts" by his sensei and mentor, Gai, who took Lee under his wing after graduation and molded him into the superb fighter he is today. Because Lee cannot use Ninjutsu or Genjutsu, he has trained only in Taijutsu. He has trained so extensively, in fact, that his Taijutsu skills are greater than pretty much anyone else on the planet. He has had to work three times as hard as anyone else to be considered a respectable ninja, and he has done it with a smile on his face. He is one of the purest hearts and nicest human beings anyone is likely to meet. He is always conscious of what is polite, is always pleasent, and in many cases is charmingly naive, vowing to accomplish things that are nearly impossible, and then managing to do them through sheer strength of will. Because of all his training in Taijutsu, Lee is extremely strong and extremely fast. He normally wears extremely heavy weights around his legs to increase his endurance, weights so heavy that most normal people cannot even hope to lift them. With them on, he is still very fast for a ninja, but when he removes them he can move faster than normal eyes can track, and he is capable of feats of strength many larger men would be unable to accomplish. |
