| Fourteen years ago, the village of Konoha was attacked by the youma known as Kyuubi. In order to defeat the demon, the village's leader, the Fourth Hokage, sacrificed himself to seal the creature within an appropriate vessel: a newborn baby. The child chosen was Uzumaki Naruto, and the decision shaped the rest of his life. He grew up alone, with niether mother or father, and although it was forbidden to speak of the demon sealed with in him, everyone older than he knew and feared him for what he contained. He grew up lonely, but that lonliness and mistrust only served to make him determined: determined that one day he would force everyone to acknowledge that he was a great ninja, and that one day he would become the Hokage himself. He graduated the Ninja Academy last in his class, but graduate he did, to be teamed with Sasuke and Sakura. At first he seemed an incompetant lout, but after he got his hands on the secret technique Kagebunshin no Jutsu (Shadow Replication), his potential began to show through. With this technique Naruto can create copies of himself that are real, not just illusions as with the normal replication technique. This gives him a big advantage in fights. In addition to this, it seems that Naruto has much more Chakra than a normal person. In part this is due to the demon sealed inside him, but he also just has naturally high Chakra. Because of this he can perform the infamous Tajuu Kagebunshin no Jutsu, or Mass Shadow Replication, creating literally hundreds of clones of himself to swarm enemies. As Naruto completed missions with his team, he inspired person after person never to give up with his unwavering spirit and determination. He has never lost a fight, because he simply refuses to give up, no matter how badly he seems to be losing. |
| After the end of the Chuunin Exam, Naruto began training with Jiraiya, one of the Legendary Sannin of Konoha. Jiyaiya taught Naruto how to control the Kyuubi's Chakra. In the past, the Kyuubi would awaken and seize control of Naruto when he was in great danger, preserving itself by preserving it's vessel. Now, Naruto could call forth the great power of the Kyuubi at will (almost.. Kyuubi has to be willing, and it is often stubborn). He also taught Naruto the supremely powerful attack technique, the Rasengan. Naruto accompanied Jiraiya on the search for Tsunade, managing to convince her through his own great determination to return to Konoha and become Hokage. |
| When he heard that Sasuke had abandoned Konoha for Orochimaru, he went with a party of peers to bring him back. He looked up to Sasuke as a brother, and refused to let him give himself over to evil. In the end, he confronted Sasuke and a great battle took place, in which the full fury of the Kyuubi was released for the first time. However, it proved not to be enough to overcome the power of the Heaven Seal, and Naruto collapsed from overexertion. Sasuke left and was not seen again. After returning to the village, Naruto left with Jiraiya to train in seclusion. He has not been seen since. Although he started out a misfit, Naruto is now somewhat of a favorite son of Konoha. All of its important leaders consider him akin to the spirit of the village, and everyone he meets is impressed with his indomitable spirit and self-confidence. Although he was once considered a goof, all of his peers now look up to him, most of them having seen his vast power in action on more than one occasion. |
