After Mulder's apparent death, it is up to Albert and his tribe to bring him back to the land of the living; it is up to Scully to figure out just who she can trust; it's up to the Consortium to recover the DAT tape and cover their tracks.

SCULLYVISION

The theme of this episode is definitely Who and How Can Scully Trust. After finding out that Mulder is probably dead, she is stopped by CSM's SWAT team, who will take the tapes from her, she gives them exactly what they want. She's still trying to work within the confines of authority, but knows exactly where the tape was, or was supposed to be, taped under Mulder's desk. Because she went back to Washington to try to save her job, she is summarily given a leave of absence. Lesson Number One of this theme, you can't trust your supervisors. She is almost to the end of her rope with the notion of Mulder's death that she snaps and degrades Skinner, something she had never done before, yet she was very good at it. She no longer takes the government line they try to feed her-or in Skinner's case, deter her-after Frohike comes to her with news of the Thinker's corpse being found. After all is too much for Scully, she goes to her mother, and her first words are that her father wouldn't be proud of her. She still has unresolved issues with her father long after his death.

There is a gulf of difference between Scully's and Mulder's families. Scully grew up in a close knit, intact family while Mulder grew up in a house of secrets, mystery, and dysfunction.

To make matters worse for Scully, and her superiors putting her in her place, she has to go in through the visitor's entrance. It was a neat parallel to the opening scene of the Pilot when newly assigned Dana Scully enters full of naivete about her new job. What her superiors may not have counted on was that having her go through the visitor's entrance made her also have to go through a metal detector. That act signaled the existence of a chip embedded in her neck during a time she doesn't remember, making this quest of Mulder's more and more personal for herself.

Even though she doesn't believe in her sister, Melissa's, New Age mentality, Melissa is able to convince Scully that she needs to remember what happened to her and why that chip was in her neck. In a very un-Scully like move, she goes to a regression therapist who takes her to that time and place. What is telling during her hypnosis is that she says she has to trust someone. Her partner may be dead, she needs her job, she had a chip in her neck, she was taken by men and thought she would die. She needs answers, she's got this quest, and she needs to trust someone. She can't rely on the one person she had in the past, her partner. She can't rely on her family, a constant comfort for her in the past, because they don't really understand. She can't rely on Skinner, as she now realizes he's just a puppet to a much bigger performance. She also can't trust the regression therapist and doesn't fully go under the hypnosis as evidenced when she is startled when he touches her hand. She cuts the session short and leaves.

As soon as she leaves the session, she goes home to find that she indeed can't trust Skinner at all. She finds him leaving her apartment-the look she gave as he was driving away spoke volumes-and he lied to her on the phone when she called to confront him about it. She is totally alone in her quest now. She goes to Mr. Mulder's funeral in his son's place. She's taking care of Fox's business because he isn't able to himself, another clue that Mulder is the only one she can trust and rely on. She has a vision of him in her sleep because she needs to know that her quest is viable since she's going far afield of what she would normally do by defying her superiors' command. She needs to know that Mulder is still alive. She wants Mulder back, the X Files back, and answers to what is happening around her.

The theme of Scully's trust comes down to the presence of the Well Manicured Man, who went to Mr. Mulder's funeral. She can no longer trust people on first sight, and what this man tells her rattles her. She stands her ground with him much as she is learning to do with Skinner. Why is he telling her that she will be killed in one of two ways? What's in it for him? Whatever his reasons, Scully realizes she has to get out of her apartment because WMM said that two men will come to kill her. She brings her own personal handgun with her and is surprised by 'a man she can trust', Skinner, coming to take her to a private meeting, where the WMM said she would be killed.

For Scully, her family had been her most treasured possession. With the rise of intrigue about this case, she forgets that her sister could be walking into danger, until it's too late to warn her. Soon, however, Scully forgets about it as she's confronted with 'a man she can trust', and only focuses on Skinner's role in the game of which she's an unwilling pawn. In the end, however, she does pull her gun on him and threatens to blow his head off. He, of course, also pulls his gun and Scully must be wondering how in the world it has all degenerated to this.

One aspect of Scully is her neatness and organization. One look at her immaculately clean apartment gives rise to the notion that everything must be in its place. She uses the appropriate containers for what she serves to guests also. She uses coffee mugs with Frohike in the middle of the night, and an elegant tea service with Melissa in the afternoon. No tea bags or instant coffee for her. She may want to rethink one aspect of her organization considering the occupation she has. Her keys are clearly marked of what lock they open. Getting rid of the Mulder label on Mulder's key might be prudent in case anyone steals her keys.

MULDERVISION

He asked his father if Samantha is there. Would that be in the in between world where Mulder is hovering, or hell where Mr. Mulder and Deep Throat probably are. The men in black around them certainly don't look happy and friendly as heaven's men in black might be. It's good to know Samantha isn't in hell or in purgatory, but we didn't get an answer of where she is. Mulder's quest is still on, and he has to live to continue it.

While Mulder is hovering between life and death, he calls for important influences on his life. Deep Throat is just as cryptic in death as he was in life, while his father was probably more 'loving' to his son than he had ever been in life. Mulder was making his father treat him as an equal now that Mulder is the man of the family and has to continue to find answers that had dogged the family since Samantha's abduction. He has a vision of what he assumes happened in that railroad car. Aliens trying to survive hydrogen cyanide, but fruitlessly just huddling together in a mass. Not getting answers he seeks, he turns to the one person he can trust in life, Scully, and visits her in her dreams.

When he goes back home after healing, he goes down into the bowels of family secrets, his father's basement, and brings a picture of the young Consortium to his mother to identify. She is an enabler for the Consortium as she isn't at all helpful in Mulder's quest. You have to feel for Mulder having a mother who is just along for the ride, doesn't want to rock the boat, or more importantly, has secrets of her own that she doesn't want her son to find out.

He had been ignorant of what had been going on in his family.

WELL MANICURED MANVISION

This man is the most interesting member of the Consortium, bar none. What are his motives? Is he good, bad, or Bipolar? He's also lived and worked in the shadows for decades, keeping the ultimate secret. He seems to be a big wig in the Consortium, able to give CSM a tongue lashing. He was also the only one, that we saw, that went to pay his respects to the former member of their Consortium. Perhaps he knew that Scully would be there, had been keeping track of her since she was taken by Duane Barry and experimented on. You can't help but think her abduction to get rid of her wasn't WMM's idea, but he obviously went along with it.

Perhaps Krycek is working closely with the WMM, and no one else in the Consortium knows it. WMM knows that the Consortium has put a hit out on Scully. Perhaps he told her at Mr. Mulder's funeral because he didn't think that a high body count was needed. He doesn't want an innocent woman to be killed; he knows it hasn't solved anything. He tells the truth when he warned her about the two men so she wouldn't become another statistic, because the Consortium had already put a hit out on her. He said the best way to predict the future was to create it, and he may be talking about himself, not the Consortium at that point. He told Scully that a man she could trust would arrange a meeting. He must have known Skinner, his personality, his dedication to service, his dedication to his agents. WMM knew that Skinner would more than likely go to Scully.

If WMM is just a cultured man who has evil tendencies and wants the carnage to happen, perhaps WMM thought that Skinner and Scully, armed with the knowledge that Skinner would try to kill her, would take care of themselves. Another angle, more to WMM's actions is that Scully and Skinner may form a deeper alliance committed to reveal the truth. Perhaps the WMM is tired and wants the truth to be known. He may have been friends with Deep Throat, who had wanted the secret told and had befriended Mulder. WMM in no way was like Deep Throat was to Mulder in his actions with Scully, but he certainly predicted a sort of future by directing Scully's actions.

CARTERVISION

As with every organization made up of many men from different walks of life, the Consortium has its problems. They are still all together for one goal, to keep what started fifty years before, and is still progressing, a secret. What started as a tight group to conceal the truth is now starting to unfold. Some want the truth of what they've harbored to come out and some who don't. Some of the men are haunted by their demons and what may happen to his child whose quest to find out the truth is getting ever so closer to it, as in the case of William Mulder. Deep Throat had to have felt guilt of what had been happening as he was adamant about sacrificing his life for Scully's at the exchange in The Erlenmeyer Flask. Now the Well Manicured Man is starting to go against the Consortium by warning Scully about the danger to her life. What's most interesting is if WMM is protecting Scully, his own butt and conscience, or the Consortium. CSM on the other hand, is still piling up corpses to not only protect his own mistakes, but to protect the secret as well.

X had to have been aligned with Deep Throat and that's why he has taken up the reins with Mulder, only in his own way as to not die or sacrifice himself. Krycek and Luis Cardinal (The Hispanic Man) are two of the grunts of the organization, used to dispose of witnesses and loose ends. However, one is only taking orders while the other may be using his head to get in with certain members of the organization.

KRYCEKVISION

Yes, he killed Mulder's father, but we know that Mr. Mulder wasn't an innocent. He's following orders of his superiors, but who's orders are they? The impending death of Scully was obviously a majority vote. Krycek has the bigger picture in mind and goes along with it. To the eagle eyed viewer, it is not Krycek who shot Melissa, it was Luis Cardinal. Cardinal was the one who dropped the gun by Melissa's head. If Krycek had been holding the gun, he may have known it was not Scully and may not have fired. Krycek walked by the computer chip taken out of Scully's neck, maybe he knew she'd need it to help figure out what it was and how she got it.

SAMANTHAVISION

Mulder's father says to him; "Hello son. I did not dare hope to see you so soon nor ever again hope to broker fate with a life to which I gave life." Apparently he is alluding to the fact that he participated in Samantha's abduction. Or perhaps this is just Mulder's subconscious suggesting that he has some repressed memory of his father's participation in the abduction.

When Mulder goes to his mother and demands to know if all of this had to do with Samantha's disappearance, Mrs. Mulder claims that she cannot remember much of anything.

OH COME ON!

Scully sure got to New Mexico quickly.

Albert was a code talker during World War II. Let's say he's around 70 at the time of the episode. That would make him in his 20s during the war. He remembered every nuance of a healing ritual learned in his youth and not used since, but he can't remember what he encrypted in his 20s? If he could, after himself and his family is beaten to a bloody pulp and trusts "the FBI women", why didn't he start talking?

Why didn't Eric look where he found that alien for Mulder and find him sooner?

Very good lines in this second part of the trilogy. He's taken what he had previously thought as the conspiracy and opened it up, giving us a glimpse of the men who control the puppets, and how the strings come loosened either by circumstance or by one of the men going against the others' wishes.

POINT/COUNTERPOINT

MRS. MULDER: Your daughter came to my husband's funeral. That was very kind of her.
MRS. SCULLY: Thank you. She is a very thoughtful young woman.
MRS. MULDER: I would have given anything to have had thoughtful children.
Surprised by that comment, Margaret thinks of something to say.
MRS. SCULLY: Dana thinks very highly of your son.
MRS. MULDER: She has a lot to learn. Fox can be just like his father. He can be quite charming if it helps him get what he wants.
MRS. SCULLY: Well, that sounds a little harsh.
MRS. MULDER: The Mulder men do bad things and then blame the women in their lives for what they themselves did.
MRS. SCULLY: You sound very bitter, dear.
MRS. MULDER: It's far beyond bitter, honey.

ATHENAEUM

Part 2 of 3

Scully's sister was dead. Frohike headed back to the old library to have a little talk with Alex Krycek. Word on the street was that Krycek was the shooter of both Melissa and Mulder's father. Inside the old library, Krycek was singing a little tune. "Mama, just killed a man, put a gun against his head, pulled my trigger, now he's dead..."

At the same time, Frohike entered the abandoned building also singing a little tune. "I see a little sillouetto of a man, scaramouche, scaramouche, will you do the fandango. Thunderbolt and lightning very, very frightening...." He jogged down the stairs in to the old library and confronted Krycek about the murders.

"More lousy rumors," Krycek said to the panting Frohike. "Besides, the bigger issue for you, little man, is that your blessed Scully subjected herself to a somewhat less than scientific method of treatment; regression hypnosis."

Frohike wished that Byers and Langly were with him. Perhaps the three of them together could kick Krycek's butt.

Krycek continued; "Regression hypnosis is an actual mental 'revisit' to a past event in the subject's life. During regression, the subject may retain some awareness of his current surroundings. Although regression may be used for a variety of reasons, it is not the final or most successful approach to hypnotism.

"In fact, hypnosis brings forward what the person believes, rather than what is true. Therefore hypnosis is a pathway not necessarily to the truth, but rather to what the subject believes to be the truth. Even the slightest hints or "leads" from the hypnotist can cause the subject to veer from the memory he had of the event into an inaccurate version. Exactly like Dr. Pomerantz was doing with Agent Scully.

"So you see, Mr. Frohike, the influence of hypnosis in alien abduction claims is most serious. Hypnosis leaves the subject in a suggestible state and eager to please the hypnotist. If the hypnotist is known to be a UFO researcher, there is a subconscious pressure on the subject to provide a UFO story for the research.

"Some psychologists believe that all hypnosis does is unlock the subject's imagination, not their subconscious, or their past life or their past lives. But my dear sir, the mind is a funny thing. Especially your mind. Please have a seat and let me show you how regression hypnosis works."

Frohike sat back comfortably in the huge chair. He closed his eyes as Krycek instructed him. "Now Mr. Frohike, imagine your self slowly going..." Krycek was interrupted by a loud snore from a sound asleep Frohike.

"This isn't the way it's supposed to work," Krycek said. He got up and walked over to the sleeping Frohike. "Beelzebub has a devil put aside for you, little man," said Krycek as he pulled out his gun and aimed it right at Frohike's forehead.

QUOTES

ALBERT There is an ancient Indian saying that something lives only as long as the last person who remembers it. My people have come to trust memory over history. Memory, like fire, is radiant and immutable while history serves only those who seek to control it, those who douse the flame of memory in order to put out the dangerous fire of truth. Beware these men for they are dangerous themselves and unwise. Their false history is written in the blood of those who might remember and of those who seek the truth.

CSM His car's parked outside! He was here! I want Mulder and I want those files!
ALBERT You will find nothing here.

SCULLY Mulder!

G-MAN Where are the files?
SCULLY In the trunk.
G-MAN We need the DAT copy.
SCULLY I don't have it!
G-MAN Who has it?
SCULLY Agent Mulder.

SENIOR FBI AGENT It is the recommendation of the office of professional conduct that Special Agent Dana Scully be given a mandatory leave of absence until the full detail of her misconduct can be calculated. This summary action is justified under the OPC articles of review and Agent Scully will complete her suspension of duty without pay or benefits, due to the nature of her insubordination and the direct disobedience of her superior agents. We will have to ask that you check your weapon and your badge before you leave the building, Agent Scully.

SCULLY I've told you everything I know. To the best of my knowledge, Agent Mulder is dead.

SCULLY Who are these people?
SKINNER These people are doing their job.
SCULLY What they're doing is putting an official stamp on the perpetuation of a lie.
SKINNER These people have a protocol to follow, which is something you and Agent Mulder did not do.
SCULLY What about the people who were poisoning Agent Mulder's water? Whose protocol was that?
SKINNER The investigation will...
SCULLY The investigation will be an exercise! The men who killed Agent Mulder, the people who killed his father, they aren't meant to be found.
SKINNER We will find them.
SCULLY With all due respect, sir, I think you overestimate your position in the chain of command.

1ST ELDER Where were the safeguards against this? These files were never meant to be seen.
2ND ELDER Forty years of work... the damage could be incalculable.
3RD ELDER The damage is done.
CSM Gentlemen... we have control. The files have been recovered and the men involved in their theft have been removed without incident. There is a small matter of concern with the FBI, but we'll handle that internally as usual. The media attention will amount to nothing more than a few... scattered obituaries.

CSM Special Agent Mulder is dead. His body will not be recovered. He will officially be listed as missing until the matter can be resolved quietly.

MARGARET What is it, Dana?
SCULLY I've made a terrible mistake. Dad would be so ashamed of me.

ALBERT The men who had come and threatened us did not return to our house again but the following day... some of the boys from the reservation came to tell us they had seen buzzards flying out near the quarry where Eric had first encountered the men. The buzzard is a large but cowardly bird. It does not work for its prey, letting others provide the kill. When I see them circling in the desert, this can only mean that something has died and they are going to pick its bones... or that death is close and they are waiting for it to do its work for them. We did not see what they saw but I remembered something I had seen as a younger man. Just as my grandson had done, I, too, had found a body at the quarry in a hole, half-buried under rocks, but the buzzards, who will eat anything, would not touch it. This spot is where we found what the buzzards had come for. We could not tell at first who or what it was but I knew what the buzzards knew... that the smell of death was upon it. The desert does not forgive man his weakness. Weak or strong, it takes no mercy and can kill a man in less than a day. To survive, one must develop skin like leather, know where to find water and when to take shelter. The FBI man would have surely died had he not stayed underground, protected like the jackrabbit or the fox. Even so, death was near. In accordance with our ancient traditions, we put for twigs on the beams of the hogan to summon the holy people and tell them that a ceremony will be held. It is called the Blessing Way chant. Only the holy people can save the F.B.I. man's life now. He is in their hands.

FROHIKE Maybe I should go. Pardon my presumptuousness.
SCULLY How much have you had to drink?
FROHIKE Do you recycle?

FROHIKE He was a good friend. A redwood among sprouts. I guess this means he's passing you the torch.

FROHIKE Those sons of bitches. They're rigging the game.
SCULLY And like rats, they just scatter back into the woodpile.

SCULLY This was the day before yesterday. This is after Mulder disappeared. Could they be so stupid?

ALBERT This healing ritual called the Blessing Way has been passed down by our ancient Navajo ancestors. Its songs and prayers must be followed just as they have been for centuries or the holy people will not be summoned. I watched my father perform the chants as a young boy and saw their healing magic. But my fear for the F.B.I. man was that his spirit did not want to be healed. That it wished to join the spirit of his own father who had died and did not want to return to the world of the living. His body has become tired and weak and it searches for rest. If the struggle to continue is too hard or the wish to join his ancestors too strong, the body will give up but if the desire to resume life burns brightly enough, the holy people will be merciful. The days and nights now will be long and difficult for the F.B.I. man has the holy people come and help him to choose.

DEEP THROAT I was first struck by the absence of time, having depended on it so completely as a measure of myself and my life. Moving backwards into the perpetual night that consumes purpose and deed, all passion and will. I come to you, old friend, with the dull clarity of the dead not to beckon you but to feel the fire and intensity that still live in you... and the heavy weight of your burdens which I had once borne. There is truth here, old friend, if that's all you seek but there's no justice or judgment without which truth is a vast, dead hollow. Go back. Do not look into the abyss or let the abyss look into you. Awaken the sleep of reason and fight the monsters within and without.

BILL MULDER Hello, son. I did not dare hope to see you so soon nor ever again hope to broker fate with a life to which I gave life. The lies I told you were a pox and poison to my soul and now you are here because of them. Lies I thought might bury forever a truth I could not live with. I stand here, ashamed of the choices I made so long ago, when you were just a boy. You are the memory, Fox. It lives in you. If you were to die now, the truth will die. And only the lies survive us.
MULDER My sister? Is she here?
BILL No. The thing that would destroy me, the truth I felt you must never learn is the truth you will find if you are to go forward.

SECURITY GUARD Making you come in the front door these days, are they, Agent Scully?
SCULLY For now.

SCULLY If both men were killed by the same weapon, we could prove that Agent Mulder didn't kill his father and it could also help us find the man who did.
SKINNER You've been relieved of your investigative function.
SCULLY Yes, I know that, sir. I just thought this might be helpful.
SKINNER I'm afraid not.
SKINNER This case would have been handled by the Trenton P.D. They're on our drug fire ballistics database. If there was a match in the two slugs, all the bells and whistles would have gone off by now.
SCULLY You don't want to check?
SKINNER Miss Scully, I think you underestimate the duties and responsibilities of my position as assistant director.

SKINNER You want to bring me a smoking gun, Scully? You bring me this tape. Otherwise, I would ask you to go home, sit tight and let us do our job.

SCULLY I'm just curious about something, would you mind if I went through here again?
SECURITY GUARD Come on through.

SECURITY GUARD This thing is more sensitive than a toothache.
SCULLY Would you mind running the wand over me one more time?
SECURITY GUARD You wearing a necklace or something?
SCULLY No, not today.
SECURITY GUARD Then what the hell is that?

DOCTOR It's embedded in your soft tissue here. Looks like maybe a piece of buckshot or something.
SCULLY I don't know how it could have gotten there.

ALBERT For three days, the Blessing Way chant was performed. The F.B.I. man suffered great fevers and his body burned like fire. There was doubt that he recover but the spirits were in attendance because on the night of the third day, he opened his eyes and asked for water. The ritual bath must be given outside the hogan before sunrise. The F.B.I. man was weak from his journey and did not wish to speak but like a rising sun, I sensed in him a rebirth. Still, it will take time to regain his strength.

SCULLY It looks like a computer chip.

SCULLY I don't even know how long its been in there. I have absolutely no recollection of it being put there.
MELISSA That is frightening. Dana, this is very serious. You've got to find out what this is.
SCULLY I don't have access to the FBI labs.
MELISSA No, I'm talking about access to your own memory.

MELISSA What are you so afraid of, Dana? You afraid you might actually learn something about yourself? I mean, you are so, you are so shut off to the possibility there could be any other explanation except for your rigid scientific view of the world. It's like you've lost all touch with your own intuition. You're carrying so much grief and fear that you can't see you, you've built up these walls around your true feelings and the memory of what really happened.

POMERANTZ Do you remember what you were afraid of?
SCULLY That I would die...

SCULLY There were men... a man took me and... there was a light and... loud sounds, my... my ears were pounding.
POMERANTZ At the FBI, you work with people you must entrust with your life. Could it have been one of these people?
SCULLY I had to trust someone... I was powerless. I couldn't... I could not resist them.

SCULLY I don't think this is working. I don't think we're getting anywhere.

ALBERT You must be careful now to end the ceremony properly. If you leave, you must not do any work, change clothes or bathe for four days.
MULDER That's really going to cut into my social life.

SCULLY You came to my apartment, I assumed you wanted to see me about something.
SKINNER I don't know what you're talking about.
SCULLY I saw you come out of my building.
SKINNER You've obviously made a mistake, I'm sorry.

MULDER I have been on the bridge that spans two worlds, the link between all souls by which we cross into our own true nature. You were here today, looking for truth that was taken from you, a truth that was never to be spoken but which now binds us together in dangerous purpose. I have returned from the dead to continue with you... but I fear that this danger is now close at hand... that I may be too late.

SCULLY Mrs. Mulder?
MRS. MULDER Yes?
SCULLY I'm Dana Scully, I work with your son. I know what you may have heard from the FBI, but I have a very strong feeling that your son is going to be found.
MRS. MULDER Oh, my goodness gracious.

WMM I couldn't help overhearing your conversation. You think the son is still alive?
SCULLY Who are you?
WMM I'm a member of a kind of consortium. We represent certain global interests.
SCULLY What kind of interests?
WMM Interests that would be extremely threatened by the digital tape that you are no longer in possession of.
SCULLY Threatened enough to murder?
WMM Oh, my, yes.
SCULLY What do you know about Mulder?
WMM That he is dead.
SCULLY You're lying.
WMM I'm not here to tell you lies.
SCULLY What are you here for?
WMM To tell you your life is in danger too.
SCULLY Leave me alone.
WMM They'll kill you one of two ways. They'll send someone, possibly two men. They'll kill you in your home or in the garage with an unregistered weapon which will be left at the scene. Using false documents supplied by associates of mine, they'll be out of the country in less than two hours.
SCULLY You said there were two ways.
WMM Yes. He or she will be someone close to you. Someone you trust. They'll arrange a meeting or come to your house unexpectedly. Do you have someplace else you might stay?
SCULLY Why, why kill me?
WMM You want something they don't. Justice. And because they are now quite certain you don't have the computer copy of the files they're looking for.
SCULLY Why are you protecting me?
WMM I feel my colleagues are acting... impulsively and your death will draw unnecessary attention to our group.
SCULLY You're not protecting me, you're protecting yourself.
WMM Why should that surprise you? Motives are rarely unselfish.
SCULLY What kind of business are you in?
WMM We predict the future and the best way to predict the future is to invent it.

MRS. MULDER Fox. I can't believe it. I expected the worst.
MULDER I need your help, Mom, but I don't have much time.

MULDER I need to know more about Dad. Who these people are.
MRS. MULDER It was all so long ago.

MULDER Dad was working for the state department, he'd go on the road. Where would he go?
MRS. MULDER I don't remember, Fox. Please...
MULDER Will you look at the pictures, Mom?
MRS. MULDER Don't do this...
MULDER Just look at them!
MRS. MULDER Don't do this to me.

MULDER I think it has to do with what happened to my sister.

SCULLY Missy, something strange happened to me today. I'm... a bit freaked out by it.
MELISSA Okay, well, I want to come over. I want to talk to you. Are you going to be there for a while?
SCULLY Yeah, I will.
MELISSA I'll see you in a bit.

MELISSA ON MACHINE Hi, this is Melissa. I'm very sorry that I missed your call. Please leave a message and I'll call you back, okay? Have a really nice day.
SCULLY Missy, it's me. Please pick up. Missy? Missy, pick up... I'm coming over to your place instead. I'll look for you on the way. Bye.

SKINNER Scully, get in the car. I need to talk to you, it's very important.

SCULLY Eyes forward. Put your hands where I can see them. Don't turn around or I'll blow your head off. Don't think I won't do it, you son of a bitch.
SKINNER No, I believe you. Just stay cool. I'm with you.

SKINNER Are you going to let me tell you why I'm here?
SCULLY I know why you're here. I want to know who sent you. Whose errand boy you are.
SKINNER No one sent me.
SCULLY You got the rest of your life to give me answers.

KRYCEK Oh, no. Oh, damn it.
LUIS CARDINAL What's wrong?
KRYCEK Let's... let's get out of here.

SCULLY How high does it go, Skinner? Who's pulling the strings?
SKINNER You can kill me, Scully, but you'll only be doing their work for them. Forget about your job and family. You'll spend the rest of your life behind bars, there isn't a federal judge that they couldn't persuade.
SCULLY What's the alternative? Let you kill me now?
