Dressing Eric and Stephanie Forrester

Ever wondered why Eric and Stephanie dress the way they do? Lori Robinson, costume designer of B&B, shares her secrets for dressing the matriarch and patriarch of the show.

ERIC FORRESTER
Since Eric is the patriarch of the family, we try to keep him fairly elegant. His wardrobe leans toward upscale. He’s always a well-groomed, well-dressed man. We usually dress him in Armani suits, but lately he’s also been wearing several suits that were designed by Donna Karan. We purchase his shirts and sweaters from several different places and we try to punch them up with a color. John McCook looks good in just about everything, no matter what I put on him.

STEPHANIE FORRESTER
I tend to design a lot of the clothes that Susan Flannery wears on the show, particularly the suits. Lately, Susan’s been experimenting with different colors that she enjoys. She looks really good in jewel tones, such as sapphire, ruby red, emerald green: good, strong vivid colors. The choice of colors is partly influenced by her blonde hair. Pastels wash her out. Depending on the season and what’s going on in the outside design world, sometimes it’s hard to find jewel tones because they’re not available, which is why I tend to design and make a lot of her suits. When she’s not in suits, we try to do really pretty blouses over slacks for a semi-casual look.
