Banff, Alberta - The Bow Valley Grizzly Bear Alliance wants Banff National Park to take more action to protect grizzlies. Tracy Hendersen, a project coordinator with the alliance, says the death of a grizzly bear cub earlier this week indicates that the park isn't doing enough.
"We'd like to see Banff National Park adopt a bear conservation strategy within their larger conservation management plan."
The cub was hit by a car on Tuesday near Lake Louise. Hendersen says the alliance will submit recommendations to Parks Canada on how to further protect grizzlies. She says one thing that would make a big difference would be more fencing along the TransCanada Highway.
