CALGARY - The no-fly zone that will be imposed for the G-8 summit this month in Kananaskis covers more than just airplanes.
Hang-gliding and ballooning are also covered by the air restrictions that run from June 25th to the 28th.
Chris Muller operates a hang-gliding and para-gliding centre near Cochrane. He says the restriction will halt all gliding at the Cochrane hill shutting down his business. Muller says it would be almost impossible to glide from the hill west to Kananaskis.
While he understands the need to control the airspace, some of his customers aren't so sure.
"Obviously security is important and I think everyone understands, but they think it's silly that hang-gliding and para-gliding would be included in that."
The RCMP say the air exclusion zone will extend for about 150 kilometres around Kananaskis. The restrictions apply to anything that can lift a person off the ground. Muller says he will likely apply for compensation for the disruption to his business.
