The city has rejected another potential site for a G-8 activists' solidarity village. Foothills Athletic Park is fully booked, and the city has told protesters it will not be available.
Village organizers say they have not lost hope of finding a spot.
In fact, the activists heading advance preparations have lifted a deadline -- originally set for 2 p.m. Friday -- because they feel they're close to reaching an agreement with the city on another location.
No details have been given, but both sides appear optimistic and talks are continuing.
The city, though, isn't sure a deal can be reached by next Tuesday. That's the next deadline set by village organizers.
Organizers say if no decision is made by then, they'll be forced to abandon plans for a central meeting place, and will start looking at several smaller venues to launch their demonstrations.
