G7 protesters stole Beanie Babies and leather purses and knocked over candy displays when they swept through Park Lane Mall on Friday night.
“They didn’t do it in a rush: it was deliberate, they grabbed things and threw them,” said one store manager. About eight stores had goods damaged or stolen.
“They were running through tearing things off racks, throwing racks over, stealing things. (Purse) trees were thrown on the floor and they were kicking things and screaming stuff,” the woman said.
One young woman was nearly knocked over after protesters stomped on the sign outside her store as she tried to rescue two mannequins. “I was really frightened,” she said.
