Fact: Even though more pedophiles are males, there are women pedophiles as well. Myth: Homosexuals are more apt to molest a child. Fact: There is no clear number on who molests more, but studies have indicated more heterosexual men/women. Myth: Abuse usually takes place by a stranger Fact: Most children know the offender, either a friend of the family or relative. Myth: All pedophiles act on their sexual urges toward children. There are many more myths/stereotypes out there, but the above seem to be the main ones.
