BY-LAWS & HOUSE RULES REVIEW

  • Required by Grand Lodge every Lodge of the Order must submit a By-Laws & House Rules General Revision at least every 5 years.  (Statues Section 10.060)
  • Your Erie Lodge By-Laws Committee has been appointed and will be addressing all updates and possible changes.  Any changes and recommendations will be published in the bulletin at least 10 days prior to a vote to be taken from the membership.
  • An informational meeting for the reading and review of the By-Laws and House Rules is scheduled for the October 12th Monday Lodge meeting.

AUXILIARY BENEFIT CARD PARTY

  • This will take place on Sunday, October 18.  There will be a Chinese Auction.  Proceeds will benefit the Lodge Christmas Baskets.  Please contact Rosie Tuten for questions and additional details.

38th ANNUAL ELKS HOOP SHOOT COMPETITION

  • Our Erie Hoop Shoot Day is Sunday, November 22nd at St John's Lutheran Church gym (22nd & Peach).  Registration is at noon.  Once again, I am looking for help.  Help is needed in line judging, scorers and retrievers.  This national event reaches more than 3 million youths ages 8-13 across America.  Posters & information will be available at the Lodge.  If you are able to help, contact Lyn Grossholz.

NOVEMBER LOTTERY TICKETS

  • The Auxiliary is selling lottery tickets for the month of November.  If you have a lucky number or numbers, please call Marlene Lewis or Pat Thompson

SOUPER BOWL 09

  • The Browns & Steelers do not play on November 12th, so why not come down to the Lodge at 1pm to see one of the other games and take part in judging who can make the best soup and bragging right, while raising some money for our charities.  Entrants should make a pot of soup or stew for testing.  (No Chili's please, that will be after the first of the year.)  Bring them down in a crock pot to keep them warm.  You, the membership, can come on down and for a nominal fee, taste all the soups and vote for the winner.  The regular Sunday football menu will also be available that day.  Please contact Tom Tallbacka to enter your soup or if you have any questions.

FROM THE SECRETARIES DESK

  • Please, when completing the application for membership, have the applicant fill out all the required spaces on the form.  This is why they are on the application.  This also includes the back side of the application form where the proposed must sign and state how long they have know the applicant.  If the form is not completed properly, it will be returned, unfortunately, causing a delay in its processing.

  • Also, although the application form for membership indicated that only the application fee is due at the time of submission with the balance of the fee and dues being paid at the time of the initiation.

  • One other thing concerning members sponsoring a new applicant, please do everything within your power to be there with them at their indoctrination/initiation so they will know someone that night and will not feel alone.

DISPLAY OR PAY

  • A number of members have brought to our attention and we have personally witnessed that even though parking spaces have been added, some people are disregarding the signs designating Handicapped Only or Motorcycles Only (being seasonal) and parking in the spaces.  We are constantly walking into the Lodge and asking the party to move their vehicle.  When we do, they offer no excuse for illegal parking!  Every vehicle parked in a space must display a handicap placard or a license plate.  Please be advised, this will no longer be tolerated.  THE VEHICLE WILL BE TOWED.

HOUSE COMMITTEE NEWS

  • The House Committee is pleased to announce the hiring of Tammy Morgan as our new bar supervisor.  Her duties will include scheduling, ordering of bar supplies and assisting the bar and kitchen staff.

  • Don't forget that our dining room is available on Friday nights, when there is no parties scheduled.

  • Just a reminder that the Lodge building is SMOKE FREE during the dinner hours.

  • Please do not phone the Lodge, bar or office in an attempt to see if the "daily" has been it.  There are no exceptions.  The bartenders and staff have been instructed not to give out this information.

  • Starting in January, karaoke will be on Friday nights from 9pm - 1am.  The starting and ending time will be 30 minutes earlier

  • Remember that dinners are served Tuesday - Saturday from 5pm - 9pm except on Friday when we serve until 10pm

  • A reminder that the Lodge meetings are now on Mondays at 7pm so the kitchen does not have to close down anymore on Tuesdays for the lodge meetings.

Just a Reminder!!
  • Don't forget members, ladies included, please remove your hat when you enter the Social Quarters out of respect for our deceased members.

  • No children are permitted in the Social Quarters after 10pm.  Prior to 10pm, children must be with their parents and guardians and be supervised at all times.

  • Don't forget, the TVs are controlled by the Club Manager, House Committee or the on duty bartender.

  • All members & Auxiliary members must sign the daily sheet for themselves, no exceptions.

  • Please do not phone the Lodge to see if the daily had been hit on the day before.
