Pregnancy Journal:
December 3rd:

Deb has been feeling what is probably her version of morning sickness.  This is part of what prompted pregancy testing, confirmed by the doctor today.

January 16th:
Pre-natal doctor's appointment for blood-work etc.  HEARD A FIRST BABY HEART BEAT!!!

January 28th:
Pre-natal midwife appointment at HealthEast Woodbury Clinic at Woodwinds Health Campus.  Heard a baby heart beat again.
Hear baby's heartbeat on this sound file:  baby1-28-02.wav

Early March:
Deb is just starting to 'show,' and feel some first kicks!

March 20th:
First visual confirmation at ultrasound appointment today.  "Yes, it is a baby!"  See a few photos below.  He/she is just slightly bigger than average at an estimated 13 oz.
And then, Erik was able to feel first kicks this evening!

July 22nd:
Still dilated to about 1 cm.

July 24th:
Bio-physical profile (ultrasound).  Baby roughly estimated to be 8 lbs. 5 oz.  Ultrasound pictures are difficult to see at this late stage.

July 29th:
Now dilated to just about 2 cm, 75% effaced, -2 station.

July 31st:
Another bio-physical profile.  Baby roughly estimated to be 9 lbs.
Sunday, August 4th:
4 am:  Deb wakes up with painful contractions.
5 am:  Deb wakes up Erik.  Contractions 5-7 minutes apart.
Throughout morning Deb goes back and forth between bathtub and the couch at midwife's suggestion.  Erik times each contraction with his trusty old watch.
1:30 pm:  Contractions 3-5 minutes apart.  Called midwife.  "Doing great.  The hospital is ready for you, but feel free to stay home as long as you are comfortable."
2:30 pm:  We leave for hospital, because Deb expresses great intrest in drugs.
3:00 pm:  Arrive at Woodwinds Hospital.  Checked in.  "Sorry, we can't find your pre-registration forms." (which we sent in 2 weeks ago) - extra paperwork.  Nurse checked things out -
8 cm!  Midwife arrives soon after.  Waterbirth tub is prepared.  Deb tries out different positions including the "birthing ball" which she sat on for a couple hours.
5:30 pm:  Midwife checks things out.  So close - almost 10 cm, but not quite.  Decide to break water and that did it - fully dilated.
5:45 pm:  We all head for the other room where the tub has been waiting.
5:53 pm:  Deb gets in water, and has a contraction soon after.  Erik reaches in to help her balance and notices his trusty old watch is now underwater.  :)
8:00 pm (exactly):  After 2 hours of pushing, Isaac is born.  While under water for several seconds, he looks around, and is then pulled up onto his mom's chest and welcomed to the world.
The rest is here.
