Hi, my name is Erik Peterson.  I'm a cellist and started playing in 1987 when I was in fourth grade.  I learned cello through the string music program through the public schools in Wheeling, a northwest suburb of Chicago.  By Jr. High and High School, orchestra became 'my thing.'  Orchestra was where my friends were, where I hung out, and how I spent much of my free time.  What really helped this to be such a great experience was supplementing the school's string program with private lessons.

Currently, my wife and I perform with the Sterling Strings Quartet and the Northeast Orchestra.  A community orchestra in Fridley, MN which performs 4-5 concerts each year.  My wife is the 2nd violin's section leader, and I usually lead the cellos.

With my wife teaching violin with the pure Suzuki Method, I have become a huge fan of it.  But, because of my limited experience in it, I have chosen not to try adopting this method as a whole.  Instead when teaching lessons, they are in the same way that my lessons were, a supplement to the school's string program.  The lessons have a balence, including both skills development and assistance with practice techniques to aid in mastering the school's orchestra music.

Lessons are $14 for a half hour once a week.  These will be held in my wife's violin studio at our house in Arden Hills, MN.  Monday evenings are preferred.  Students will have the oportunity to join my wife's violin students for a solo recital sometime in April.
