December...well, things are coming to and end with a month to go... Friday 5th During the day I went to Hessichen Rundfunk (Hessen Radio and Television company) with my Rotary Club. We went because my Rotary Club organised a radion session (sendung) for the next day (Sat. 6th - Nikolaus) where the rotarians got to put a wish list forward and choose what songs were to be played throughout 'their' hour...and they would also talk about what the Rotary Club did and what Rotary is about etc. They do there sendung on HR4 (the 'oldies' station). So we got tours of the Radio and TV studios which was awesome. Unfortunately though, I was unable to make it to the airport to see Danielle...another exchange student from Melbourne who got sent home under silly circumstances. I'll see you when i get back Dani!!! At Night...I was at Ana (Brasil) and Sarah's (New Zealand) joint Going Away (Abshieds) Party (also Sarah's birthday party) in (Neu)Anspach. It was a good night...getting to see everyone again, and have a BIG GOODBYE!! We stayed there the night. Saturday 6th (Nikolaus) RAPHAEL'S BIRTHDAY!!!!!! I went to Raphi's birthday in the afternoon with his family and a couple of other exchange students from Marburg...Kaffee und KUCHEN (Coffee and Cake)...and then light supper (es war ganz nett). Afterwards he met up with all his friends from school and we all went to a couple of pubs. Had a good time...just a pity that I was buggered, and left a bit earlier, because of going to Köln (Cologne) with my family the next day. Sunday 7th - KÖLN Got up too early...considering my weekend!! Took about 2 hours driving to get there, stopping quickly at Pi's (host dad) sisters in Siegen (halfway). When we got there we went straight to the Dom (Church)...Pi and I climbed the tower (turm) with 509 steps...but it was worth it with a wonderful view over Köln. Then we had a look through the rest of the church, and made our way to the WEIHNACHTSMARKT (Christmas Market - very much a tradition in Germany, in every town, and even small towns...with Bratwurst, Glühwein - hot wine, and crafty stalls, etc) We had a Bratwurst of course!!! Then we went to the Chocolate Museum!!!! Interesting...the gift shop too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The next stop was home! All very tired. Cant say i remember a whole lot from the trip...was sleeping ofcourse. During the week...school... On Tuesday met up with Raphael after school and gave him his birthday present, and went back to his house...he let me use the internet to save me from going to the internet cafe...very nice, isnt he!!! |
