Just Another Day By Erin_Cale Disclaimer: See first part. *** Dylan walked Kathryn back to her quarters, Tyr following a couple paces behind. It took only a few minutes to get there, but Kathryn was starting to feel the effects of the day and the short journey seemed as an eternity to her. To add to that, she was very much aware that the tall Nietzchean following quietly behind them did not trust her. So when they finally reached her quarter, Kathryn found herself more than glad to say goodnight and enter them. She leaned a moment against the wall by the door, trying to work up the energy to walk over to her bed. Outside, Tyr closed the distance between himself and Dylan, who stayed in front of Kathryn’s door knowing what was coming. “Why do you trust her?” Tyr asked, casting a disapproving look in Dylan’s direction. “She has done nothing to justify not trusting her. Besides, I’m having Andromeda keep an eye on her just in case.” Tyr sighed and half turned away in frustration. He spun back around and looked Dylan in the eyes. “This woman has been on the ship less than a day and everybody seems willing to believe her. What if she is really a prisoner because she did something horrible with the technology that allowed her to come here? With that teleportation technology, she could have decimated entire planets.” “I’m sure-” Dylan began, but Tyr cut him off. “Do you not find it suspicious that everybody trusts her in such a short amount of time? You think Nietzcheans are treacherous, but humans can be more dangerous than any Nietzchean because some do evil things with good intentions.” Dylan glared at his weapons officer. “And what would make you feel better Tyr? Locking her up in the brig, leaving her on some planet...?” “We will be better off not trusting her at this time. I guarantee that there is another side to this matter that we have not yet heard.” “Maybe. But until then, she will stay on this ship under Andromeda’s supervision and she won’t be given any important codes. Do you have a problem with that, Tyr?” Anger flashed across Tyr’s handsome features before he carefully masked his feelings, his face becoming a neutral mask. “If she does turn out to be a criminal and you are charged with aiding that criminal, where will your restored Commonwealth be then?” Leaving his captain to contemplate his words, Tyr brushed past and walked in the direction of his own quarters. Dylan sighed, watching Tyr until the Nietzchean had disappeared around the corner and then walking off in the opposite direction. Inside her quarters, Kathryn tried to contemplate the conversation she had just heard. However, her mind was too tired to dwell on the subject and she barely made it to the bed before falling asleep, still in her uniform. *** |
