Just Another Day By Erin_Cale Disclaimer: See first part. *** Dylan watched Kathryn and her friends talk for a few minutes before he politely excused himself and left the room. He noticed that the dark-haired man Kathryn had called Chakotay followed him out, so he waited a few feet away from the door and wondered what the man wanted to say. “Stay away from Kathryn.” Dylan blinked in surprise. He hadn’t been expecting that one. “What?” “Stay away from Kathryn,” Chakotay repeated. “I lost her once and I am not going to lose her again.” “I believe that it’s her choice who she wants to be with, don’t you? And if you’re who I think you are, you don’t have to worry about me anyway.” “Really? And why would that be?” “Why don’t you ask her?” Chakotay was silent and Dylan could used the moment to compare them. If this was the man that Kathryn had spoken of earlier, than tall and dark were the kind of things she looked for in a guy. Dylan himself was tall but fair. The two men looked like total opposites and yet Kathryn had expressed her interest in both of them. Why? Dylan was broken from his conteomplation by the sound of the other man’s voice. “Maybe I will.” He walked back towards the room where the rest of the newcomers had gathered, leaving Dylan to think of all the possible outcomes of the upcoming conversation. *** |
