Hosta's are a great addition to any landscape. Weather it be a border or bed under a tree's or along a fence line. These plants look great where ever they are planted, tthey add ideal texture and color to any bed or border. They range in size and heat from 4inch to 4ft tall and can grow very wide if not divided every 3 to 4 years to keep them at the size you want. The plants bear trumpet-shaped flowers along strong long stalks in the summer and color range form white to lavender. These blooms attract butterflies and hummingbirds to there sweet nectar.
General Care and Growing
Good drainage is recommended mainly in the winter. Although most Hosta thrive in all shade ,a few like and need some sun only a hr or 2 to keep the color of the leaves true in blue and variegated Hosta. Remove flowers to improve foliage and prevent cross- pollination. Divide Plants in early spring and late fall. Protect these plants if you have a deer problem because deer love to eat the leaves of these plants. |
