  Fruit trees need pollination just like birds and bees. Without pollination the tree will bloom but not bear fruit. Some varieties will not bear fruit unless pollinated buy a different varieties of the same fruit like apricots and  cherries. It's best to buy 2 or more different varieties. All apples,     peaches, pear, and plums are self-fretile and will bear fruit without       cross- pollination. But they do best with a extra pollinator and will bear   more fruit.
