Welcome to the page all about our wedding. You aren't going to believe me, but wedding pictures have arrived! Read on to learn more details about the event itself.

WHO GOT MARRIED?

Erin Marie Warren of Brunswick, GA, and Steven Kennedy Gaston, of Claxton, GA. Find out where we ended up.

WHO ELSE WAS IN THE WEDDING?

Bride's Honor Attendant: Jacob Warren, brother of the bride (I didn't want to call him the "maid of honor")
Bridesmaids: Connie Toalson and Leah Phillips

Groom's Honor Attendant: Mike Gaston, brother of the groom (Didn't seem fair to call him the "best man")
Groomsman: Ben Buchanan

Minister: Rev. Mark O. Warren, father of the bride

WHERE WAS IT HELD?

The wedding was held in my hometown of Brunswick, GA. This is in the Golden Isles on the Georgia Coast. The ceremony took place in the chapel of my home church. The sanctuary holds well over 1000 people, and I didn't want my 150+ guests to feel swallowed.

WHY WAS IT ON INDEPENDENCE DAY?

Originally, I wanted the wedding to be on June 20, the Saturday after graduation. Well, Jacob, who was my honor attendant, went on a trip to Europe, and he was to leave on June 11 and return on June 30. Obvoiusly, the wedding couldn't be the 20th under these circumstances. So, we decided to have it the first Saturday after Jacob returns from Europe. This just happened to be 4th day of July.

Then, I found out over spring break (in April, 1998) that Jacob's Europe trip was being pushed back by three days. That meant he was not scheduled to get back until July 3. Needless to say, I was not very happy. I figured that as long as he was back and dressed by 2:00 pm on July 4, 1998, I would survive. He arrived home at 2:00 am, on July 4, exactly 12 hours before the ceremony. WHEW!!!

WHAT DOES THE DRESS LOOK LIKE?

My dress was made by a small shop in Duluth, Georgia. Kay was so great. She will either make a dress you design yourself, or she can copy one you've seen in a magazine. She has an entire binder full of pictures from magazines and then pictures of the dress she made to imitate it. It is absolutely amazing!

My dress was A-line, with no hard waistline. It had lace around the scoop neck. The lace then continued around the neckline, over my shoulders, and down the V-back. Instead of a butt bow, it had a satin rose with leaves. The lace continued under the rose, then in two trails all the way down the chapel length train. The sleeves were trimmed in the same lace. All lace was embellished with pearls and clear/iridescent sequins. My garter was made by my grandmother from scraps of my mother's wedding gown, which she also made.

WHAT WERE THE COLORS?

No, the colors did not have an Independence Day theme, despite the date. Green and metallic gold, with blush/light peach accents.

The bridesmaids wore dark green, straight dresses, with a satin green cumberbun sash-thing. Cap sleeves, scoop neck, V-back, with buttons from the V point to the waist. Pearl jewelry, bone colored hose and shoes. They each carried a single glass rosebud, accented with gold ribbon. Jacob wore a green vest and bow tie with his tux to show that he belonged in the bride's part of the wedding party.

The best man and groomsman wore black vests with their tuxes, and Steve wore a gold vest with a gold bow tie. Most appropriate for the Tech graduate.

WHAT KIND OF MUSIC?

All kinds! I mostly used CDs. Too bad there weren't CD burners "way back then." That would have been much easier.
  • Prelude: "Watermark" and "No Holly for Ms. Quinn," by Enya, performed on piano by Jacob Warren
  • Grandmother Procession: "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring," by Bach
  • Mother Procession: "Cannon in D," by Pachelbel
  • Party and Groom Procession: "Main Theme - Star Trek: First Contact," by Jerry Goldsmith (No, you are not imagining things. That does say Star Trek.)
  • Ceremony Songs: "In This Life" by 4pm, and "The Greatest Love," sung by the 1996 Youth II Music Camp Choir
  • Recessional: "Rondeau," from Water Music, by Handel
