OK...
IM not as embarrassed now.
So what do you think of this angle, aren't I cute?
Now I will tell you about the incubation part. At first don't be surprised if the hen does not lay on the first 2 eggs at all. Usually she will start that behavior when there are at least 3 eggs. The male will help with the chore of sitting on the eggs. They will take turns to give each other a much needed break. This is the easy part for them! Just wait until all of those chicks arrive! Also, as the parents incubate their eggs and you come in for a peek, they will do a rocking motion back and forth. Plus they will also emit a hissing sound. Do not be alarmed as this is a normal action for cockatiels to protect their family.

www.oocities.org/ernies_bird_site/Animationegg.GIF Incubation for each egg is about 18 days, give or take a couple of days. The eggs will start to hatch in the order in which they were laid, one egg every other day. You MUST contain your self! Do not give in to the urge of opening the nesting box to see the new chicks as any small draft can be FATAL.

If you can't stand it and you MUST have a peek, try this trick that my human used when her first chicks hatched. Try placing a desk lamp over the top of the nesting box. The light will shine through the top cracks lighting it enough so you can see the babies through the doorway. But do not leave it on constantly as everyone might get a little too hot.

Take any broken eggs out of the nesting box. To remove the parents to do so, tap lightly on the side of the nesting box. They will hurry out to see what is going on. There is no need to thoroughly clean the cage during breeding time. Just clean the removable bottom of the cage and keep those fresh (big) supplies of food and water.

If no eggs hatch at all on the first try, it may be due to infertility. This is usually caused by a poor diet. Also if you handle the eggs too much, this can also cause infertility. Plus if the pair is too young, they might not be getting the "romancing" part right as they are too young.
