Ernie Ferrario

Ernie Ferrario has been familiar to jazz fans on "The Hill", a reknowned Italian neighborhood in St. Louis for 30 years. These days, he can be heard in gigs around town and with the Night Flight Trio on Saturday afternoons at Amighetti's Eatery in St. Louis, Mo.

Ernie began studying accordion as a boy of seven. Influenced by the jazz accordion of Art Van Damme, Ernie was playing in small groups by the time he was a teenager. Stationed in Germany after the Korean conflict, Ernie played with combos in mess halls, officer's clubs and some of the German jazz clubs in nearby towns. Eager to play the piano, he studied with recording artist Herb Drury, switching to performing as a jazz pianist by the late 1980's.
This CD features Ernie as a composer, lyricist and performer. This collection includes his first composition, "A Minor Thing", written in 1951, as well as songs from the 70's and 90's. Please enjoy your visit and the music. Ernie Ferrario
