1- RINGO FOR PRESIDENT

2- HEAD HUNTER

Ringo didn't have the conventional handsome looks, but such an engaging personality and sense of humor, that he became the most popular member of the Beatles in America during the heyday of the 'British Invasion', the subject of numerous tribute records, some of which touted 'Ringo For President!'

There were more than 50 tribute records about Ringo, including "Ringo Beat" by Ella Fitzgerald, Ringo-Deer by Garry Ferrier, "Santa, bring me Ringo" by Christine Hunter, "Like Ringo " by Dick Lord, "What's Wrong With Ringo?" by the Bon Tons (who later changed their name to the Shangri La's), "Treat him Tender, Maureen (Now That Ringo Belongs To You)" by Angie & The Chicklettes, "Ringo Did It" by Veronica Lee, A Tribute to Ringo Starr by Larry Finnegan, I want to Kiss Ringo Goodbye by Penny Valentine, Ringo's Revenge by Robin Garret, "Bingo Ringo" by Daws Butler (the voice of Hanna Barbera's Huckleberry Hound), "Ringo For President" by The Young World Singers, and this "Ringo for President", another version of the Young World Singers hit.

LYRICS:

Oh my gee....oh my gingo....if I could vote I'd vote for Ringo.
Ringo for president. Ringo for president
R-I-N-G-O-O-O. We want Ringo. We want Ringo.
We want Ringo. Ringo for president.

He's our candidate. 'Cause he makes us feel so great.
We could talk about war out on the big dance floor.
Oh my gee....oh my gingo....if I could vote I'd vote for Ringo.
Ringo for president. Ringo for president
R-I-N-G-O-O-O. We want Ringo. We want Ringo.
We want Ringo. Ringo for president.

His platform will be fair. With music everywhere.
He's bound to reach the heights.
'Cause he (I have no clue what they are singing here).
Oh my gee....oh my gingo....if I could vote I'd vote for Ringo.
Ringo for president. Ringo for president
R-I-N-G-O-O-O. We want Ringo. We want Ringo.
We want Ringo. Ringo for president.

Ringo for president! We love Ringo!

On August 18th 1964, the Beatles touched down in San Francisco, marking the start of their 1964 American tour. They gave a press conference on the 18th, and performed at Cow Palace in San Francisco the following day.

This is an extract of the press conference, about the "Ringo for President" campaign:

Q: "Ringo, how do you feel about the 'Ringo for President' campaign?"
RINGO: "Well, it's rather... It's marvelous!"
Q: "Assuming you were President of the United States, would you make any political promises?"
RINGO: "I don't know, you know. I'm not sort of politically minded."
JOHN: "Aren't you?"
RINGO: "No, John. Believe me."
PAUL: "I think you should be President."
JOHN: "I saw you dancing with Bessie Braddock."
Q: "How do the other guys feel about Ringo being nominated for President?"
JOHN: "We think he should win, you know."
PAUL: "Yes, we think he should."
GEORGE: "Definitely in favor."
Q: "Ringo, would you nominate the others as part of your cabinet?"
RINGO: "Well, I'd have to... wouldn't I?"
GEORGE: "I could be the door."
RINGO: "I'd have George as treasurer."
JOHN: "I could be the cupboard."
RINGO: "He looks after the money."
