PAUL McCARTNEY IN MADRID. OUR EYE-TO-EYE MEETING WITH PAUL.

DESPERATELY SEEKING PAUL

Well, after HEY JUDE, Elena, Belen, Roopa and me were heading for the way out. It was not easy!!! We were in the first rows, and the stadium was crowded. People looked at us as weirdos, and a boy said to me: "Don't go!! The show is not finished!!!". "Yes, yes! I know" I answered, but I went on, desperately towards the way out, as YESTERDAY was playing, wonderful and magic, each time more distant!!!

Once outside, we had to run and to cross all the parking of the stadium and... the next objective was to see a taxi. Arduous task, passed the midnight, in the outskirts of Madrid. I knew that Paul was performing LET IT BE, my favourite Beatle song, but now there was no reverse gear. It cost a lot to us but we achieved our aim: to take a taxi. And ... We set a course for VILLA MAGNA hotel. During the way, Paul would be performing I SAW HER STANDING THERE. I could imagine him and all the crowd filles with enthusiasm... you know what I mean!!!

And we arrived at the hotel, and there we could see several fans. We knew even all of them. Among them Juan Agüeras, Javier Tarazona and his wife Pilar. It was a good signal. Altogether we would be 18 people. As many the guards of security of the hotel, in spanish, as the Paul security staff, in english, promised to us that if we were quiet, without hysterias and, mainly, without taking out our cameras, it would be very likely that we achieved an autograph of Paul. The concert had to be almost finished. I was missing the chance to listen HELTER SKELTER in live for the first time in a tour, but in return we were about to have an eye-to-eye meeting with Paul,... or that was my desire at least!!

With the end of the Sgt. Pepper´s/The End I received a call in my phone. It was Jordi, in order to tell me that the concert was finished. We were very nearly arrive to the great moment. I had never imagined that I was going to get so nervous. The heart beat me two hundred per hour. I do not know if it were the possibility of seeing him or the nerves of thinking that perhaps I did not see him. But yes..., a van arrived, and the security head and...PAUL McCARTNEY in person! Uau! It was impressive. He began to sign one by one to all those that we were in the queue. The Security staff had cordoned off the sidewalk where we were, and Paul was something lower than us.

The moment was approaching. Only two people were ahead and five behind me, when I suddenly heard to the security head something as "a couple more". No! It could not be that just when I was touching heaven, Paul stopped signing! Luckily it was not a literal affirmation. My turn arrived. I looked into his eyes and I felt his glance fixed on me!!. And I said to him; "HI PAUL". And he answered; "HI". And I said: "VERY GOOD CONCERT THIS NIGHT!" My voice quivered!!. And he answered: "THANKS, I'M GLAD YOU ENJOY IT!". I was so completely captivated and fascinated that I did not realize that, instead of signing in the photo that I took with me, Paul began to sign in my address book (that I took in the hand to lean the photo). When I did it, I said to him: "No, not here", but... it was so late!! He looked at me and as he was really sorry, he said: "SORRY, ONLY ONE". But... it doesn't matter!!. It was a rubbish sheet of an address book but... the experience to speak with him and the memory of that night will be always on my mind, and nobody will be able to fade it. And when I see his signature I will return to recall the moment.

What happened later, I can not remember well. It is like a nebula. Jordi phoned to me and he could not believe me!!!!. When Paul went away (he did it very fast, without enough time to take a photo) we all together were flushed with happiness and we took photos in order to commemorate our success.

Our main objective had been a success.!!! I can see Paul again eye-to-eye (I really hope it!!), but it never will be as wonderful as this first time!!
