Additional Information

Ojochal is located in a remote and undeveloped part of Costa Rica.   You most probably will not find it on a map though you may find nearby Playa Tortuga.  You will need a four wheel vehicle to feel comfortable as a some roads are simply not navigable without it.  You will most likely fly into San Jose and from there rent a four wheel vehicle and drive the approximate 5 hour drive to Ojochal.  You can either take the Pan American Highway over extremely mountainous terrain with numerous narrow switch back curves or the coastal road with less mountainous driving but also challenging with traffic and road conditions.  Driving in Costa Rica is always challanging with extremely deep potholes, pedestrians, cows, trucks and mudslides often appearing out of nowhere.  Driving after dark is strongly discouraged.  Once there, the area is fairly undeveloped so you will not find large grocery markets, golf courses, resorts or condos so it is not for the resort oriented traveler.  If, however, you are a traveller who enjoys the adventure of the jungle and all that it offers this is the ideal spot for you.
