Fear is the thief that makes us fear to tread where we might have won
Remember the shortest distance between a problem and the solution is the distance between our knees and the floor.
William Shakespeare
No Enemies

You have no enemies, you say?
Alas, my friend, the boast is poor.
He who has mingled in the fray
Of duty, that the brave endure,
Must have made foes.  If you have none,
Small is the work that you have done.
You've hit no traitor on the hip,
You've dashed no cup from perjured lip,
You've never turned the wrong to right,
You've been a coward in the fight.
Squander not time,
for that is the stuff
life is made of.
Benjamin Franklin
Along the Road

I walked a mile with Pleasure,
She chattered all the way
But left me none the wiser
For all she had to say.

I walked a mile with Sorrow
And ne'er a word said she,
But, oh, the things I learned from her
When Sorrow walked with me!

CHARLES MACKAY
For feelings come and feelings go,
And feelings are deceiving;
My Warrant is the Word of God--
Naught else is worth believing.
Though all my heart should feel condemned
For want of some sweet token,
There is One greater than my heart,
Whose word cannot be broken.
I'll trust in God's unchanging Word
Till soul and body sever;
For though all things shall pass away,
His Word shall stand forever!

The Difference

I got up early one morning and rushed right into the day;
I had so much to do that I didn't take time to pray.
Problems just tumbled about me and heavier came each task;
"Why doesn't God help me?" I wondered, and He said, "But you didn't ask!"
I wanted to see joy and beauty but the day toiled on, gray and bleak;
I wondered "Why God doesn't show me?" But He said, "You didn't seek."
I tried to come into God's presence; I used all my keys at the lock.
God gently and lovingly chided, "Child, you didn't knock."
I woke up early this morning and paused before entering the day.
I had so much to accomplish that I
had to take time to pray.
HOW DID YOU SPEND THIS MORNING?
With whom did you sit and talk?
Did you hurry, scurry to start your day?
Did you run a race with the clock?
Did you miss your appointment with Jesus?
He had one scheduled for you.
Was His Letter misplaced?
Did tears stain His face?
Does it make any difference to you?
