ABOUT ME
I'm 21 and have had an interest in Sonic the Hedgehog ever since I picked up the player 2 joypad on my brother's Mega Drive aged 11!
I fell in love with the Sonic games mostly because they are so much fun to play. However, there is another reason I love them so much. When I first started playing the games I was bullied at school, and the games offered a much-needed escape. To me, bearing in mind I was only 11 at the time, the characters, the situation and the games as a whole represented the triumph of good over evil. I found strength in the belief that eventually, like Sonic, I would 'defeat' the evil that was cutting me down. True enough, I did! And as a result of that, I subconsciously 'thanked' the games for helping me through that difficult time.
Now, many years later, I use the games purely for enjoyment. But I never forget the fact that they helped me through a very difficult period of my life. I still use them as a means of escapism, when life gets me down. They help me remember that whatever happens, good will eventually win and life will get better.
