         Matt started his life in Cambridge because his mom wanted him to grow up somewhere where he could experience "real life." Like Ben's mom, Nancy Damon was also an educator; she was a college professor. Both Matt and his brother Kyle were supposedly well-behaved children. Nancy was a politicalactivist and was also involved in some cause, according to Ben. She also always had her sons working on some householdtasks. In high school, he had nearly perfect grades, lots of girlfriends and membership in the drama club. After high school, he attended Harvard. He still has two semesters there should he decide to go back and finish getting his degree. While still there he started writing Good Will Hunting, but wouldn't finish it until he and Ben kicked around some ideas later. He left college to become an actor and he didn't do it as easily as he would have liked. His first big role was in Courage Under Fire in which he played a heroin-addicted soldier. He lost 40 lbs on his own as he prepared for the role. He was disappointed as he character didn't really get noticed by the critics not to mention that he was literally sick from losing all that weight, so much so that he had to be out on medication to get his metabolism back on track. Finally, in Good Will Hunting, he was able to get the kind of role he wanted. Though he didn't win an Emmy for best actor, he still felt like his acting career was on the right track. Hewon a role with Edward Norton in a movie about gambling called Rounders. He played a southern lawyer in John Grisham's The Rainmaker. He was an angel in Kevin Smith's Dogma. A soldier in Saving Private Ryan. A psychotic villain in The Talented Mr. Ripley. A golfer in The Legend of Bagger Vance. And, most recently, a cowboy in All the Pretty Horses. Like Ben, he's had a variety of types of roles. Right now, he's got all kinds of options. He said in a recent interview with Talk magazine that he literally has nowhere to sleep.
