National FFA Convention
Ocotber 25 - 28, 2000

This year, nearly 50,000 FFA members from across the nation made the annual pilgrimage to Louisville, Kentucky for the 73rd National FFA Convention.

This year convention was by far, one of the best conventions yet with the new technology which appeared on stage as well as the stage itself. That's right! No more traditional stages! This year's convention stage was located in the very middle of the audience, giving everyone a chance to see the happenings from almost every angle.

As those of you who have attended National Convention before know, one of the highlights of Convention is the key-note speakers at each session. Amoungst this year's speakers were Deborah Norville of Inside Edition, John Alston a motivational speaker and author, Carolyn Peck an Orlando WNBA Caoch and former head coach for Purdue University, and Dr. Guy Rice Doud a former U.S. Teacher of the year.

As for the inside scoop... Some members were fortunate enough to see the human side of one of our most beloved State FFA Officers, Mr. Mike Gaspar. He was gracious enough to save the rest of the team from peril while riding on a golf cart late Monday night before the convention started. Breaking his radial head (elbow) he drew quite a crowd of concerned State FFA Officers from around the nation to inquire. He was fortunate enough to have been taken to the hospital and enjoyed the rest of convention with ease. Thank you, Mike so much for saving your fellow team mates a little pain and bailing off. We truly appreciate it.
