Mazuko Don’t Love: A Xelloss Fan Fic One would expect that over 1,000 years, I would forget about an event as simple as death. I have killed countless beings with the point of my finger but this was different. This was my sister. My young baby sister I know that I am a Mazuko. We know not the meaning of the word ‘love’ or ‘peace’. We are only to know ‘pain’ and ‘destruction’. I know this; all to very well, but it is...it is as if I feel something else. Something more. Every day I watch Lina and her group walk on. Sometimes they are in what look like, hopeless situations, but they get through them. Sometimes I want to help the a bit more but Beastmaster wouldn’t be happy if I did that. Besides, it shouldn’t matter to me. I am a monster. I don’t help others unless it concerns myself. I am not greedy; this is just the only way I know. Anyway, my sister was beautiful. She had long, purple hair, big blue and purple eyes, and always a smile on her face. I don’t remember anything else from ‘back then’ besides her. How can I have a sister? Because back then, I was human. Yes, I used to be a human with very weak magic. My sister was the only thing I had besides the clothes on my back and she was what kept me going. *Begin flashback* A handsome young man stood on the top of the tallest branch of the tallest tree in the entire forest looking at his surroundings. He had long purple hair, and striking purple eyes that were friendly and always open. He wore a shabby outfit and a big smile on his face. This was the human version of Xelloss 1,000 years ago. Now he was just Xel. "Do you see anything, Xel?" called a small voice from below. It was coming from a girl who seemed to be around the age of 5. She had longer hair than Xel and big beautiful blue and purple eyes. She wore a tattered, dirty dress but she had a smile on her face that was brighter than the sun itself. This was Xel’s little sister. "No, Kasumi! It’s too dark!" he called. "Xel, please come down! I don’t want you to fall!" she cried from below. "Don’t worry," said Xel jumping from branch to branch. "Oh, Xel!" she cried when he finally came down. She clung to his leg, "Please don’t do that anymore!" Xel seemed a bit surprised. He picked his little sister up and held her. She was very light because the two ate only a little. "Don’t worry, Kasumi-Chan! I am here and I always will be for you!" said Xelloss. "I know, but, it’s just that I love you and you can’t die because, because, You’re my big brother!" she said hugging him, "I don’t know what I would do without you!" Xel smiled at his sister who had fallen asleep in his arms. "Don’t you worry, Kasumi. When we get to the right place, you will have many friends who will love you," he said, "Until then and always, I will be here." Xel managed to make a fire and set up a roughly made camp. He left Kasumi there to keep warm and set out to search for more firewood. From out of nowhere, a wolf seemed to howl. It was close. Too close. It howled again, even closer. Xel knew he had to run back to camp to check on Kasumi, but there before him stood a woman. The most beautiful woman he had ever seen. She had long hair and glowing red eyes and a perfect figure. Where did she come from? "Oh, hello," she said to Xelloss who was too awe struck to respond, "Why are you out on a night like tonight?" "I, I, I.." said Xel. The woman chuckled lightly. "My name is Xel. Who are you?" he asked. "Oh, my name is Zelas Metallium, Beastmaster," she said. "Beastmaster?" "You heard me correct. I am a Mazuko." "But, aren’t you evil then?" asked Xel. "I suppose, but you seem like a nice guy Xel. And cute, too!" said Zelas. "Err" "You just want a friend for you and a future for your sister, right?" asked Zelas, "I’ll be your friend!" "But!!" started Xel. "Oh, please, Xel! I want to be with you!" she cried, "Oh, the sun’s coming up. I have to go." Xel fell over in anime style. ^^; "Let’s talk tomorrow night!" said Zelas as she disappeared. "Wait!" said Xel. Then he remembered about his sister who was still at the campsite! He ran to her to find that she had been crying in her sleep for some reason. Maybe that was a sign of what was to happen. For the next few months, Zelas and Xel grew even closer together. Every night they would see each other and talk. It was exactly a year after they met, that Xel found the perfect city! He and Kasumi could finally settle down in a real home but it was that day that Zelas came out in the daytime, a moment that would change his life forever. It had been ages since either of them had been in a city. Kasumi was amazed at all of the buildings in the same places. Then she spotted a big man in armor that was taking gold from another man. "Xel, that’s wrong!" said Kasumi, "We have to help him!" Xel looked at the scene. Obviously the man in armor was a knight. "Kasumi! Wait!" he called, but it was too late. She snatched the gold out of the knight’s hands! Suddenly, time froze except for him! A figure appeared!! It was Zelas! "Xel, do you want to become a Mazuko, please? I need you!" asked Zelas. That was unexpected. "Need me?" asked Xel. "Yes, I need you as a priest and a general. You will have lots of power!" she said. "But, my sister!?" "Please?" she asked. Xel thought for a moment. He had liked Zelas a lot and wanted to be with her but his sister needed him! Then, something snapped. He all of a sudden didn’t care. He wanted to be a Mazuko. "Ok, Zelas. I will." "Perfect," she said with an evil grin. She started to glow. A dark energy was forced through her body to his. Xel’s clothes became different; newer, darker. He had a cape. His eyes and smile: smaller and more evil. He was no longer Xel; he was Xelloss. "I’m powerful!" he said, his voice changed a bit. Time started to move again. Zelas smiled and disappeared, "Come on, Xelloss." "Just a second," he said. He looked down at the girl who ‘used’ to be his sister. "You little bitch!" yelled the knight as he grabbed his sword, ready to kill. "No! Xelloss, please help me!" she cried. Even then he only looked at her, "Where did my brother go?!" Then, the knight stuck his blade right through her heart. Kasumi was still crying after death not for pain for the loss of herself but of her brother. "I’m sorry, Xel." were the last words she muttered with her last breath. Xelloss had long since disappeared. *End flashback* Every day since then I have thought about my sister, on the outside I really didn’t care but somewhere inside, I cry nonstop. Either way, my life hasn’t been the same without her. Shortly after that, I fought the war with the Golden Dragons verses the Mazuko. I wiped out the whole race of Golden Dragons (except for one or so) with one finger. I had power but no love. Sometimes I would ask Beastmaster why there way no love and she would simply laugh and say, "Mazuko don’t love." "Xelloss? Xelloss! Hey, Xelloss!" called Lina. "Huh? Oh, Hi, Lina-sama!" Xelloss said. "Where have you been for the past hour? You’ve been walking around like a zombie," she said. Everyone expected him to say, "That is a secret!" but instead he didn’t say anything. He just frowned and disappeared. "What was that all about?" asked Gourry. "Mr. Xelloss looked unhappy," said Amelia. "You can expect that from a Mazuko," said Zelgadis, "Hey, look, It’s a town." "FOOD!" cried Lina and Gourry in union. Meanwhile, Xelloss looked at the town. Believe it or not, it was the same place where his sister had perished. He stood on the exact spot he was exactly 1,000 years ago. Xelloss felt like crying but he couldn’t. Wasn’t crying a sign of love? Mazuko can’t love; at least, that’s what he thought. He fell to his knees and it was as if, for just a split second, his little sister was there in front of him, crying. He felt like crying too. "Please, no! I’m sorry!" cried a voice. It was a little girl who had an apple in her hand. "No way, punk!" said a big man with a dagger. It was a formiller scene that began to haunt Xelloss’s mind. He noticed how much the girl looked like his sister. His face began to feel painful, as if there were pins being stuck in it. Although he knew he shouldn’t, he had to do something. Xelloss put a cold grip on the man. He turned around. "Why don’t you pick on someone your own size. Oh, wait, I don’t think anyone is as big as you!" said Xelloss. "Why you!!" said the man as he threw the dagger at Xelloss. "For shame, didn’t your mom ever tell you not to play with scissors?" asked Xelloss as he caught the little sword, then he threw it right back at him. Stabbing his heart. He dropped dead. The little girl ran over to a young boy, obviously her brother. "Don’t worry, you’re ok now," he said. Xelloss’s lip trembled his face seemed to become warm. He walked on just to see an awe-struck Lina and company. "Xelloss, what the heck?!" cried Lina, "I thought you don’t help people unless it serves you." "What’s the sudden change?" asked Zelgadis. Xelloss smiled. He knew why these sudden changes were overcoming him. He was on the verge of crying, "That, is a secret that I may tell some other day." Xelloss disappeared but a single drop of water remained. A tear? Maybe, perhaps, Mazuko can love.
