Backstreet Boys, the original boyband of the 1990s, paved the way for groups like 98 degrees & Nsync. In just 4 years they sold over 60 million records.

Backstreet exploded onto the music scene in 1997. Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell, A.J. McLean, and Kevin Richardson won the hearts of millions of fans with their R&B pop tunes & soulful ballads. Orlando, FL, 1993 when it all began. AJ & Howie (then in high school) met with a 13 year old Nick, and soon met up with then 22 year old Kevin. Kevin brought his cousin Brian (then a high school junior) from Kentucky. They took they’re name from a popular hangout for the town’s teens…Backstreet Market. In 1995, they released their first single “We’ve Got It Goin’ On” which fizzled in the United States due to popularity of grunge & rap. “We’ve Got It Goin’ On” took off in Germany. They then played sell-out crowds throughout Europe. In 1997, their self titled record broke through in the U.S. “Quit Playing Games” went multi platinum, and kicked off the boyband craze in the U.S. The album stayed on the chart over 2 years with 5 top 10 singles. In 1999, Millennium debuted at #1, and made history by selling over 1million copies in a less than a week. The sophomore album solidified the teen fanbase & introduced the group to a much wider audience. The boys were facing 5 Grammy nominations, and received a Billboard award. In 1998 Brian underwent heart surgery to repair a congenital heart defect. Eight weeks later he was back on stage performing.

"First of all I want to take this time to thank each & every one of you for all of your prayers, love, and support” said by Littrell during his solo at each concert.

That year they also sued Lou Pearlman, for taking an more than the fair share of the groups earnings, the case was settled out of court. The new album, released on November 21, 2000 (Black and Blue) reflects that difficult time. These Backstreet Men have had 2 members wed in 2000, Kevin Richardson, who will turn 30 in October, and Brian Littrell, 26. These boys still got it going on with each single climbing the charts, including the latest “More Than That”. After 8 years, they are still together & making music. “There is nothing the fans love more than that!
